What are some ways to heal the baby cradle cap?? That white flakes in new born baby hair on the scalp

My doc told me when my son was old enough I could use Selsun Blue just a little bit with his shampoo and then I would put coconut oil on. But I would ask your doc if it's ok for your baby before using it.

I used coconut oil on my daughter's and it did wonders! I did the same with my twins.

Oil is not the way to go. Just wash the hair and gently brush or comb the flakes off. Cradle cap is caused by overproduction of oil. Using more oil makes it worse. Yes it will loosen the flakes temporarily but it will cause more flakes to form after.

If you leave it alone it can get worse. That's what I did to my oldest and her cradle cap was so thick I ended up having to scrape some of it off with my finger nail

@mberjuste5 I was going to try and get it off my daughter head, but aside from just brushing it in circles every now and again I haven't. I just didn't want to irritate her head.

But I can see why you'd want to!

@bhtslove ohhhh...okk..my second oldest she use to pull her hair out n scratch her hair when she had the crandle cap..she got bald headed lol...dont want the same to happen ti my third baby girl lol...

@mberjuste5 Because it doesn't bother the baby, it's harmless and will disappear on it's own. If it bothers you though, then that's why they give suggestions on ways to get rid of it. But it isn't bothering your baby.

They really say just leave it alone, it'll go away.

But you could use vegetable oil or baby oil. Rub it on their heads, let it sit for like 15 minutes then use a soft bristled brush and brush it. Then wash the oil out of the hair.
