Anyone been in a situation where they had cats and had no one else to do the cat litter box for them? I was told unless I'm immune to the disease they carry (sorry I forgot the name) that i shouldn't be doing the litter box. My husband hates doing the litter box and would rather get rid of the cats. Have you guys just sucked it up and done the box? I was thinking I could wear gloves and maybe a dust mask?

Thanks for letting me know yea that's how mine is. Makes a big deal. And I'm obsessive about cleaning it. I do it 2 to 3 times a day just bc I can't stand the smell either or it being dirty and I have more than 1 cat. I could never go a week
I wear gloves and a mask. @courtneyzalewski27 my husband says he will do them and puts it off and says it doesn't need to be done yet but I have supersonic smell and need it done when I say so I just do it. I did however buy the disposable pans and put those inside the litter boxes so the cleaning is about a quarter what it was before.
It needs to be cleaned every day... I guess I'm just trying to find out if people did it and were ok
He should suck it up its only for a few months. Or you could tell him you'll just have to pay someone to come clean them once a week.
It's not like he's a horrible person he just doesn't want the responsibility I've done it since we've had the cats. I agreed to doing it. He built me a special litter box even for them he just doesn't like to clean it. He did it today for me but was not happy. I am going to have the test to see if I'm immune to it. I guess I need to do more research
All drs are different. I’ve never been exposed to that disease. But my dr told me to wear like the heavy duty cleaning gloves if I had to do it. Otherwise it could be expensive but I just had my bf dump it everytime it was time to clean it and just put fresh litter in it
That’s silly you’re husband won’t do it. 🙄 I would possibly look into the ones that clean for you or see if maybe you can get someone like friends or family to stop by like once every two days to clean it. I know you want it cleaned every day, but I would say that’s pushing it for someone to come over. Haha
You could get one of those litter boxes that is electric and scoops the poop into a bag. I don’t know how expensive they are but could be a good option
Three litter boxes for two cats and they only go in one and when that ones full they piss on the floor in front of it. wtf. Do any cat experts know why they do this? I'm about to sell them to a Chinese restaurant.

So I walk into the laundry room and realize I need to clean the litter box. So I leave and get sidetracked by my son asking for milk so I get it for him, walk back into the laundry room and the whole brand new bag of cat food is ripped open and pored all over the floor, and the litter box (we have a big one for 3 cats) is flipped upside down and the litter is everywhere!

I have gloves and a mask. I read if you've been around cats your whole life you've likely developed antibodies to toxoplasmosis and the risk us minimal.
For those of you who have cats, what do you do about the litter box?
Do any of you ladies have cats during pregnancy? If so, how do you deal with the litter box? If it's cleaned daily, and gloves are used, is it still a high risk to own a cat? I love cats and have heard different information.
