My just over 2 year old... has been waking up almost every night around 3am for 2 weeks now... she has been calling for us and wants us to come sleep in her room... she can’t open her door yet, so she knocks on it and starts crying... my husband talks through the monitor to her and after about 15-20 minutes convinces her to get back in bed, and she goes back to sleep... I don’t believe it’s night terrors, she’s wide awake and can use logic... we’ve tried eliminating naps, but it seems to happen random nights no matter if she naps or not... we also though maybe she’s been cold... the kid refuses to keep her blanket on her, and our monitor says it’s 73-75 at night in her room... so it’s quite comfortable... I just don’t know what else to try! She does not like a night light.. “shadow scares me mommy” so we bought a pull down black out screen for her windows to go over her blinds... this kid likes it dark! Any suggestions or ideas?
@lucifermommy, that’s too funny!! Freedom from technology equals jail! 😂🤦♀️
They go as far as whining because they think not being able to watch TV or play video games means they are in trouble and say that our house is a jail lol
My step son has a tablet at his moms house and both of my step sons play on it so when they come here they don't have that and that always complain because "there's nothing to do" like uhh go outside and play or go play with the hundreds of toys in your room. You don't need a TV or tablet to have fun for Christ's sake children
@lucifermommy, yeah my mom wanted to buy her a tablet for Christmas! 😳🤦♀️ I don’t have a tablet! Lol I’m certainly not giving my 2 year old one! 😅 she’s going to get enough technology later! I want her to play outside, investigate the world around her, and get dirty! 👏😄
My kids don't have TV or tablets either lol. We have 1 family TV in the living room and me and hubby have a TV in our room. I don't believe kids under 12 need any kind of technology. So I completely understand your view on tv/movies in their bedroom to fall asleep
I say just do what you have been. It should be just a little phase. Maybe try giving her a sippy about half full with warm milk. Warm milk helps kids sleep. Cold milk doesn't give off the same soothing/sleepy feeling as it being warm does. When my girl wakes up I give her warm milk and tell her it's ok mommy's here but it's still night night time and I lay her back down
@dreamermom, I have an almost 2 year old that does the same thing and what I do is I put on a movie and give her a cup of juice and it helps her. Hopefully it helps you.
@valerie_jean, iPads are nice for that reason! Small enough to prop up but big enough to work like a tv. I do this a lot!
Do you guys believe in a higher power? I still have to pray with my 13 year old son when he wakes from a bad dream or something scares him. I don't show any fear and it comforts him to know I trust in God to protect him and us. Idk with a 2 year old. But great job on getting her to sleep in her own room. I have mommy issues when they're little and not in my room. 😩
I tell them if they want to see what jail is like I can take literally everything except their mattresses out of their room. Clothes, toys, dressers, everyrhing. They got serious looks on their faces and said "no no no don't do that please" I said well then don't tell me that my house is like being in jail
