I've been told they do a first stool test with the babies that will show drugs. I think at the appt they just test for protein in the urine I've seen the strips they keep in the bathroom i leave my sample
Yes I would say most babies do! I have a co-worker who has 4 children and she smoked marijuana through each pregnancy, and her kids were not taken. I'm sure they were tested though! But yes they drug test you so, not saying you do drugs, but if you do then they know and will more than likely test the baby!
The drug testing at every appt is not true either. I've literally seen them check pee at the beginning of an appt (things got messed up and some lady gave another girl my or cup sticker so she just took me back and I went in the little room that's behind the pee cup doors with her) and all she did was dip alittle stick in the pee for a split second and it only checked for protein in my urine. By the hospital will test you for drugs whether or not you've ever tested positive. And if you test positive during time of delivery they will test your baby. In PA if you test positive for marijuana and your baby tests negative, which is possible, you will have an open cys and will be expected to take a drug class and stay clean for 30 days and pass a test at the end of the 30 days and the case will be closed. It happened with my first child and I avoided smoking with my second and just waited. This pregnancy is much easier than my first was.
Your being tested at every appointment and most likely dont know it. They dont have to disclose it and babies get drug tested by blood work after birth. It is the normal lab work they take and just add on drug screen. Very simple!
When you pee in a cup every appointment they drug test you 🙄 they don’t have to tell you that they did or your results. Just know that they know. And all hospitals do

@damiensmommy1117 my doctor hasnt drug tested me once and im 35 weeks pregnant. and I have no history of drug related issues

Yes you get drug tested at your appointments, but in some states they don't test the baby unless the mom had positive drug tests. Even then it varies from city to city and doctor to doctor. I've tested positive for marijuana, but my doctor said he won't be ordering a test for the baby because I haven't tested positive for it for my last 4 visits.
All states drug test you during pregnancy and baby when their born and if the baby comes out with withdraw symptoms baby is automatically put in foster care custody.
I went to a birth center for this reason. They don't drug test at all. I peed in a little cup and I dipped the protein stick in and then dumped the pee in the toilet and told my midwife my results. They never collected urine for me. I also did the GBS test myself, she told me how to do it and gave me the swab
