I think I've decided to let my doc sweep my membranes today. So my son will be here today!
Gosh, then their was no point in her even doing the sweep. The sweep can take 48 hrs to work, but youll already have your son by then
@laciemarie yea so that sweep did nothing but made me feel unbearably sore, can hardly lift my legs or walk now... The cramps hurt so bad.... Then after she did the sweep, she rescheduled my c section for tomorrow.....
Its deffently not a sure way! I was 39 weeks and 6 days when they did it to me. Now im 40 weeks 3 days 😒 let me know how it goes! Who knows, maby if u are dialted and shes able to do it it might work for u!
@laciemarie, but even then, why not explain that instead of getting my hopes up for no reason. My husband took off work, my family is on standby all because when she offered, she made it seem like it was a sure way to have him today. Didn’t mention it was dependent on anything. I’m sure gonna cuss her out today.
That would aggervate me to! At my last app i wad only at 1 1/2 and 75% effaced and my doctor could barely do it then, its super uncomfortable! Maby shes assumeing youll be dialted by this app?
@laciemarie, my Doc makes me so sick. Why did she even offer it then??? She checks me every time and says in closed tight. I’m so sick of her and her misinformation. I should’ve switched a long time ago.
Sadly they cant do it if your not dialted. Fingers crossed for some good news today for u!
@laciemarie, not even sure I wanna do it anymore lol I thought it was more of a sure way to have the baby today versus it being dependent on my body. I’m not dilated what so ever and my cervix is still very high and thick so what could it possibly do for me today!?
I got a membrane sweep on thursday, i cramped,(tmi) lost my plug/bloody show, and have just felt like i am going to start a "heavy period" in a way.. going to try again on tuesday! If not ill get induced thursday/friday 😊
I had mine done just this Tuesday that passed it was so painful for me I bled all day and felt such intense cramping but it did nothing for me. Week later almost and no signs of baby!
@juliaschade41 I wish that was an option. She doesn't really have a medical reason to induce me yet. My c section is sheduled for Friday... I was just under the impression that she wanted to give me an option to do the surgery today instead
@juliaschade41 it better! I hate getting all excited for nothing! And I hate that my doc didn't explain it throroghly
@juliaschade41 well in my case, I have to have a c section so if I go to the hospital was intense and close together contractions, they'd start my surgery instead of waiting of labor to progress
@tasharoshell lol its okay my mom thought it was them breaking water as well. I didn't even know what it was till I got this app lol. Never even heard of it b4. But u can never be too prepared lol.
@gennaraetarallo wow. Now I have to explain to my husband how I misunderstood.... And we did all this nesting and staying up late and loading the car for nothing!!
@beebaby I just found this out... I wish my doc would've made it more clear instead of having me get my hopes up
@tasharoshell right lol. For some women it works but others it dont. Just depends on body. I've seen women talk about having it done 2 or 3 times. Usually takes a few hours or even a day or two if it does work
@gennaraetarallo wow. I got all excited for nothing. Had myself and my husband thinking it was a process of breaking my water... So That basically means going straight to the hospital is not a good idea since I won't technically be in labor at that moment
@tasharoshell no definitely not like breaking water. The doctor will basically use finger to gently separate the bag of water from the side of the uterus near the cervix. Some women don't feel it and some say it hurts like he** but it's fast.
@gennaraetarallo lm still kind of confused. Is this the same as the doc just breaking my water?? I don't want to get excited for nothing.
@laciemarie smh they're so backwards in that doc office. I'm so glad I'm at the end of it all... Definitely finding a new ob next time
