So my sweet baby girl is 9 and a half months. She doesn’t have any teeth. She really hates baby food. We still give it to her but she doesn’t eat a lot in comparison to other babies her age and even younger. I’m not too worried about that bc I feel like she just wants real food. I started giving her puffs and biting them in half. I am like a nervous wreck about her choking. She mashes it up with her gums and does fairly well with it. I also tried the lil bits gerber baby food. She seemed halfway ok with the carrot bits. I just wonder when I will stop being a nervous wreck about her choking.
@shellbell0391, she is kind of picky but I have given her a taste of soft foods and she is ok with potatoes .... hates bananas! She gags on them. But you’re right about the full set. Didn’t think of that
I understand the worry, but kids don’t have a full set of teeth for awhile and they still eat regular food! Their jaws are strong. Has your daughter ever gummed your finger?? Kinda hurts lol
My son doesn’t use his two teeth he just gums everything lol. She will be fine with real food. My son’s gagged a couple times but hasn’t choked. Give her small soft food like cut up banana, soft toast, avocado, etc. I’ve pretty much given my son a taste of whatever I’m eating as long as it’s something soft. Last night he had some chicken and potatoes lol
My son would eat chunky food, cheerios, etc, before he had any teeth. He just gummed them. At 9m he was eating off of my plate, with maybe 3 teeth? He was over pureed baby food by 6m. Babies that age still get lost of the nutrition from breast milk or formula, so food is sorta just practice in a way. Have you tried avocados or baked zuchinni? He hated mashed avocados but likes the chunks. Cheese sticks cut up are good too!
He just got his first set of molars last month, so never had any teeth to chew with, and did fine. He gags sometimes because he's still learning he can't fit the whole plate in his mouth at once, but he's arming 'bites.'
(As a baby I didn't get my first tooth until 9 months.)
