What are your thoughts on your SO or the father of your child smoking? My problem is even if it’s not around your child but they bring the smell inside with them and on them and then want to hold your newborn baby? I don’t really know how to approach this situation.

Don't punish your child for having accidents 4.) Don't give you child candy 5.) Don't compare other children to your child 6.) Do praise your child 7.) Clap your hands when your child goes to the potty. 8.)Take your child every 15-30 minutes to the potty 9.)Don't criticize your child 10.) I don't recommend pull ups but I don't bash mothers who decided to use them. 11.) Remember potty training is not taught in one day you have to be determined to potty train your child. Our hospital won't let visitors enter with smoke on their clothes. They request they come in clean smoke free clothes or they provide scrubs.

@maesmommy04, I figured you went through it cause somebody who used to smoke said the same thing and maybe if smoked I would think differently but I just want what’s best for my kids and for me it’s having both parents healthy and alive.

@maesmommy04, I just feel very strongly about smoking in general and feel he shouldn’t even want to be around the kids until the scent is off of him just for the safety of his children. Like i understand it’s hard but if you have the motivation to be a healthier person for your kids then why not use that to push you to stop? But that’s my opinion

@angelia.lyn321, yeah but mine are both newborns so hopefully by the time they get old enough to realize it he won’t be smoking anymore or we’ll be in different houses.

@brianniacarr, yes it seriously drives me crazy. I tell my son that daddy is yucky for doing it but I feel like that only made my son want to do it more so now I kinda try to ignore it as much as possible because as soon as he gets a reaction out of me he does it even more 😒 I just can't win.... I find it disgusting as well.

I don’t mind the occasional cigarette but or black in mild but when you’re doing it every other day multiple times a day I get tired of smelling it

@caseysmommy92, we weren’t even in the same state my whole pregnancy cause he was going to school and he was stressed so he was smoking more than usual and now he smokes a lot

@maesmommy04, that’s what I was gonna do. If he wants to smoke then he’s gonna have to get the scent off of him to hold the babies.

@brianniacarr well help him with quitting. But don't stress him over it or it will make it harder. Quitting is a very difficult thing to do. Even if you have children. Sometimes that makes it more difficult. Also I can almost guarantee that not letting him pick his kids up will not help with the quitting. Have him wash his hands yes.

My so vapes... it doesn't stink as bad and the smell doesn't linger AS bad... but still does a little bit... but it still drives me crazy. What makes me even more crazy is my 3yo son can see his daddy out the window vaping and now he thinks it's cool and he will find random thinks like blocks and act like he's vaping.

@maesmommy04, well while I was pregnant I asked why he smoked and we discussed it and he said he would work on quitting so he would be done by the time the babies got here but that didn’t happen and now he smokes like every other day and i hate the smell very much

@brianniacarr I can understand situations like that. I have a long story as well. Which ended in divorce. I'm just curious why it wasn't brought up during pregnancy. I'm not judging just curious. Cause it seems to bother you quite a bit.

@maesmommy04, well this was an unexpected pregnancy. It’s a long story but i didn’t know he smoked until after I got pregnant. We knew each other for a very short time when all this happened.

It's a no, he needs to wash his hands and face and change his clothes. second hand smoke can cause colds and ear infections in newborns. My MIL didn't see my son until she stopped smoking.
