So more and more I’m hearing there is no nutritional value in breastfeeding after 6 months. Any truth???

Breastmilk is the main food for babies until 1year.. between 6months and 1year food is complementary and mostly for fun and discovery... some babies need more than just breastmilk and eat a lot.. others can be only breastfed until 8 or 9 months... but breastmilk never ever looses nutritional value no matter if you breastfeed for 2 months or 2 years.

@tlistboom, @sunshyne76, @eze.love, so here is a question then, at 6 months and up what should the ratio be or solids to bread milk. Like how many solid feeds per day. Also did you guys start with fruits or veggies . I heard started with fruits makes them not like veggies

@delamorena2121, i started with veggies first like broccoli and sweet potatoes and corn .. I was a lil hesitant about fruits cause I didn't want him to have an allergic reaction but my son is almost 10 months and he eats 3 meals a day plus breast milk & regular milk & snacks in between .. hope that helps you 😁

I started him around 5 1/2 months on puréed veggies by 7 months he was eating solids no more purée

@carmelosmommy, so how much solid about how much milk? Like should two feed be solids and the rest milk? Or just one?

@delamorena2121, It really depends on your baby .. start with 1 feeding of solids start in the morning and see how he reacts to it during the day and then gradually increase the amount you feed him . He won't eat much in the beginning but he will get used to it . 😊

@carmelosmommy, I started him like that and he was fine then as soon as I let him try fruit.. it was like anything that WASNT fruit after that he wouldn’t eat it, even if I mixed fruit in it.

@delamorena2121, did you try mashing it and adding your breast milk ? It helped my son to eat his bananas and apples and strawberries..

@carmelosmommy, He doesn’t have a problem eating fruits it’s the vegetables when I start him on vegetables he’ll eat it but then as soon as he eats fruits then he’ll stop eating vegetables

@delamorena2121, well they prefer sweet things so my bf would put syrup in the veggies when cooking them not too much just enough to change the taste .. try it with your LO and hopefully he likes it ..

When I started .. all meals were milk .. then purees were for tasting inbetween. I started with fruit and then sweet potato and so forth. My lil one never had an issue liking veggies even until now.

Look up recipes mixing fruits and veggies together that way you are sneaking in veggies but the fruit is what is tasted. I personally wouldn't add sugar or anything like that to change the taste. That may set them up in the future to always have to have something changing natural foods tastes causing pickiness.

But also .. don't worry atm if things aren't liked. It is still early. Their lil tastes change .. what they like now may be gross in a few months and vise versa.

At 5mths .. food isn't their main source of nutrients yet.

@delamorena2121, My approach was similar to @carmelosmommy, I didn’t try solids until 6 months and I did very little. I let the little one guide me. We started with purées about an hour after she had breastmilk/bottle. Sometimes she was game other times not at all. She really wasn’t a fan of purée so I’d give her avocados, hummus, baba ganoush to try instead.

I think around 10 months we tried new solids. She would sample what we were eating. She’s eat her fill and then we have her milk to top up.

Also you can blend fruit and veggies together. The bit of sweetness entices then plus they get their veggies. Or we would mix sweet potatoes with broccoli. But as much as she likes her sweet stuff, she’ll chomp on a carrot too
