Need help. The doctors are telling me to get the flu vaccine but I’m on the fence. What’s everyone’s opinion on it?

Benefits out way the risk, especially when it is protecting you and a baby or child. I say get it.

I will say, I didn't get the flu shot last year, low and behold I got the flu for the first time. It came on extremely quick and I also got pneumonia because of it. I was hospitalized for a week. Had I gotten the flu vaccine, it may have been prevented.

I got it, the benefits definitely outweigh the risks. The flu can be detrimental to an expectant mother and her unborn child. Some people state that they've had adverse reactions and that's understandable, to each their own. However, getting the flu vaccine will no prohibit your body from continuing to maintain its inborn immunities. vaccines simply provide active immunity and add to the already existing immunities within the body. Primary prevention is the best prevention.

I've gotten the flu once in my life and I never get the flu shot. I don't vaccinate my child either. I'd rather my body make its own immunities and fight it off once than shove a bunch of chemicals into my body and risk many other illnesses. Also studies show that people who get the flu shot are more prone to getting the flu than those who dont

I get mine every year. Especially when pregnant or I have a young baby. I feel the benefits outweigh the risks. The flu can be fatal to those with weak immunity. My husband had the flu the other year and he didn't even know what he was saying. He was delirious and it was scary.

I got it. I watched my husband have the flu last year. The insanely high fever, vomiting, hardly able to go to the bathroom without passing out. Couldn't eat for two weeks and that was with the drug to make it less severe. No thanks. Being that sick while pregnant isn't for me. I have asthma too, so every cold I get is way worse than his. You have to do what you think is best though!

I don't believe in the flu vaccine. I vaccinate all my kids for everything important but I just have never had a good experience with it and neither has my children's fathers so I would imagine our kids would be the same. Knock on wood my kids never get the flu so I don't see why they need it. BUT we don't live somewhere where the flu is super common or severe. I live in central California.

I got it. So far so good. I would get it. Rather be safe than sorry. It won't hurt the baby.

@cmuth, if you are nervous don’t get it. I’m not going to get it just because I don’t think it necessary

@naylaa, my mom has something called Guilian barre syndrome and the doctors say they are finding out that the flu vaccine has a connection to how people get GBS
