So annoyed I have gestational diabetes and my midwife tells me today that i am too high risk and they can’t see me anymore! Wtf has anyone ever had to deal with this ???😒😡😭
@brittanyj2191, oh that’s the only reason I could think of, is if it was only a team of nurses & midwives...I would think if you were considered high risk you would be monitored closely since you are near your due date. I was border line with gestational diabetes and they just told me to watch what I eat; carbs, excessive sugar, etc....
@avahcruz, The hospital that the midwives deliver in has doctors that do C-Sections if need be. So it’s still not making sense since I would be in a hospital with high risk doctors if I needed a C-section instead I’m not delivering at home or at a birthing center
@brittanyj2191, right. C-section births are more common with high risk pregnancies. Midwives (to my knowledge) are not trained to perform c-sections. Which could be why they are telling you that they cannot see you anymore. In case you need to have a c-section you have a doctor who is trained to do so, and also a doctor who has experience in dealing with high risk pregnancies.
I don’t think midwives are trained in c-section birth, which are more common in high risk pregnancies. It’s just a safety precaution.
@laurenray93, Me too with me being late in pregnancy then they tell me this on a Friday which I probably won’t get to see a doctor for another 2 or 3 weeks now so ugh it’s frustrating
@brittanyj2191 oh that's complete bullshit. You're late term now, I hope you can find a doctor to take you and that will take better care of you.
@laurenray93, I actually asked while I was there and she told me that the physicians were the ones who made that decision. So at that point I felt like they just really didn’t want to be bothered with me
@brittanyj2191 can you call the clinic and ask to see one of the physician's
There’s four midwives and like 4 physicians that over see them so I’m not understanding as to why I just couldn’t start seeing the physician instead
@laurenray93, That’s what it seems like it they just didn’t want to deal with me
Yeah I would think you would see the dr once because they have better knowledge but you would go back after is this dr the only one in practice or are there multiple drs I’d most definitely get a second opinion
@brittanyj2191 they gave me a month to bring back my numbers for my sugars before talking about meds, but because they were mainly well controlled they let me be. Seems like your docs are being too strict instead of making sure your cared for
@mommysbabies, With my last midwife she just kept led me monitored really closely she didn’t tell me she couldn’t see me anymore
That doesn't make sense! My doc only sent me to the high risk doc bc I had High Bp and GD together.
Yes she called me in today and told me I have to find a new doctor because I am too high risk they literally put me on the diet a week ago and my sugar was up maybe twice and she then goes to say I need medicine already not giving me a chance on the diet first
@avahcruz, that’s what they told me at first but then my sugar was in the upper 139’s twice and then they were like we are going to put you on meds and I’m like huh it’s not even that high because usually they want you to stay below 130
