Getting back to work is helping me a lot but I'm still short tempered and depressed a lot.

@ax2momma yea i was very short tempered like i wasnt myself. I think with having a young baby its so hard bc all we r worried about is the baby & not taking care of ourselves. I was frustrated, angry, sad everything in 1. Just monitor ur behavior & take a break if u can. Get some air, maybe a quick bite with some close friends or fam. Itll help keep u sane too

@tallyqpons22 I am wondering if this is me. I have a 1 yr old an 1 month old who I love dearly an take care of them everyday! I am not working at the momment. I find myself having panic attacks (not everyday just some) also being very very rude to my s/o in the moment I feel like I am on the right but then when I think about it I feel horrible because I notice he is just trying to help me.. I definitely need to look into it because it's not that bad just want to know what it is so I know for myself I guess.

I think i had a bad case of baby blues. I wouldnt say ppd but it was close. I just felt trapped & i felt like i was alone . I have a husband that helped but it was just this sad feeling like i have to do so much for this litle baby but could barelt take care of myself. It slowly decreased once I went back to work. But took awhile to get over. When ur always stressed, tired, overwhelmed with hormones its hard to be happy all the time.

I had a very severe case of PPD. I also dealt with depression before my pregnancy, but the hormones from my pregnancy made it kind of subside. About two weeks after birth everything just seemed to fall apart. I was crying constantly. I didn't want to talk to anyone. I didn't even want to take care of Isabelle. It was debilitating. I had to have someone help me with her CONSTANTLY or else I would just completely lose it. I also got irrationally angry at very small things. I couldn't eat or sleep. I found myself always feeling like everyone would be better off without me.

When I went in for my 6week appointment I spoke up, but not much was done to help. I ended up trying to commit suicide when my daughter was 3mos old and spent 3 days in a coma and 12 days in a mental health facility, and therapy twice a week when I got to go home.

It was still there, even with the meds and therapy. It still is. I just manage it a little better. I no longer have to have meds (aside from anxiety medication that I've always taken) and I don't do therapy anymore. It still gets hard. But you learn to cope and overcome.

The biggest thing is knowing the difference between normal baby blues and actual depression, and even worse, postpartum psychosis. Baby blues are extremely common and are just caused by your hormones returning to normal, and it goes away after a few weeks. PPD lasts longer, and can get worse. Postpartum psychosis can include thoughts of you wanting to hurt yourself and your child, or even feeling the urge to, and requires immediate mental help.

Just do research. Look for the signs. Be proactive in getting help if you need it.
