Has anyone ever delayed cord clamping? I've looked into it a bit but would like to hear from mums on here who have experienced it! It is something i'd do for a few minutes i think. 😋

@dhovakiinx, it has lots of benefits so I think it's defently worth doing x
@jodiec, what do you think to it then? :) i am considering it tbh! x
We did it :)
Our hospital only does delayed cord clamping it means baby gets every last bit of what they should from the umbilical cord !
@natalie2255 that's fab that you were able to donate I researched it when I was pregnant and wanted to do it but they only offer it in a few hospitals 🖓 xx
I asked for that when my daughter was born. Every bit of blood and nutrients is worth it. I also had it donated. They hang the placenta upside down and get enough blood for their causes. So there's nothing to say if you have it delayed it's not worth donating. In my opinion my baby came first. That cord fed my baby nutrients and kept her alive so why not.
Xx
I went to an antenatal class at the hospital last week, and they said that the hospital I will give birth at was part of the research around it years ago and they now do this as standard procedure...they also said that the only time they sometimes don't do it is if baby is premature or ill as they need some blood out of the cord for testing x
Well it makes sense if it's good for baby xx
@jobraydendanny, with different experiences i've read, people leave it a few minutes, or for a while till it's fully stopped pulsating. which is why i'm wondering if anyone on here has done it before :) I'll have a think about it, i'm not totally against it but it sounds like a good idea! As long as it's medically proven to be good for baby too ill consider it :)
Noway so do you think it's best for baby to leave it a while xx
@jobraydendanny, @natalie.louise89, It's when baby's umbilical cord is delayed being clamped/cut until it stops pulsating. :) the cord and placenta contains about one third of baby's blood. While
the cord is pulsating, placental transfusion is supplying baby with oxygen, nutrients and increased blood volume! (from what i've read online). I looked into donating cord blood and that but it's just farting about so i looked into other benefits :)
what is it?x
What is it xx
