So I’ve been trying to revamp our diet to add more healthy foods. My husband and I grew up such terrible eaters. No veggies, no seafood, picky about meats, and my husband is worse! He hardly eats any meat that isn’t processed (microwaved hotdogs, hamburgers only from McDonald’s, MAYBE grilled chicken (but god forbid it has a grill mark), no beans, no fruits, nothing! He literally eats snacks (junk) all day... and I don’t want my girls to follow in our footsteps.

I’ve changed my eating a lot by trying to add more veggies to my diet. As much as I hate them I want my girls to grow up eating them and I have to do that by example...I literally ate my first ever salad not to long ago and I absolutely hated it but I did it! I’ve been adding broccoli to meals (that’s a fairly easy veggie) and I add spinach and carrots to my fruit smoothies. Also I bought cauliflower rice to try!

Does anyone have any good veggie recipes for veggie haters?? I would love to try and make them secret to maybe trick my husband into eating them! He’s worse than my kids 😂

@kelleycrew7362, yassssss I love smoothies!!! I’m a total fruit addict so it’s a great way to hide some veggies! I made a great one yesterday with two cups of fresh spinach, a cup of water, shot of fresh orange juice, and 1/4 cups of frozen banana, peach, mango, pinapple, and strawberry plus some vegan protein and HOLY CRAP it was amazing

Smoothies always are a healthy fun way to add extra fruit and veggies. I freeze some fruit (add instead of ice) juice yogurt and fresh fruit.

Hello are you talking to me! Yes I struggle with this too. I grew up so horrid my SO was the complete opposite. It was so hard to change. I really enjoy yams! Boil and mash (like mashed potatoes) add (the best part) 3-4 tablespoons butter and 2 of brown sugar. My oldest is super picky and even he loves them!

@kambam, I’ll talk to him :) I have to take some responsibility for his eating too..I do the shopping and I continue to buy his crap :/ plus I know I could be packing lunches for him. I need to come up with something that will work for him because I know he has no idea where to start.

Yep its sad 😪 what we fuel our bodies with is exactly what we get out of it. Eat crap, be crap. I hate to suggest this but maybe if he eats well the whole week he can have a cheat meal or cheat snack at the weekend. Or maybe you can encourage him with small gifts or services. Dunno ☺ you're in this together! Find ways to make it fun.

@kambam, I absolutely agree! Honestly at least I’m trying I just wish he would! Like take a bite you might actually like it! I want to be healthy and fit for my children and live a long healthy life for them. He’s 25 and I can already tell he’s having issues..he’s not fat or anything but he definitely has put on some weight and loss muscle tone. A few months ago he was dealing with chest pain and kidney stones. He’s family has a history of health problems I know can be avoided with a better diet. Like if it’s this way now what’s it going to be like in 10 years?!

If you add seasoning to the riced cauliflower, a couple eggs and cheese mix it all up. You can bake it into little snack bites. Or you can make them into mashed "potatoes" tastes similarly honestly. If your family likes lasagna that's a good way to toss in a bunch of vegetables. I always recommend making pizza at home. Everyone can make themselves a personal. Have a bunch of different toppings made up and just encourage it to be fun. You can buy crusts or even make cauliflower crusts ☺ you can find recipes for those online. There's no excuse to have poor eating habits as an adult in my opinion. Just suck it up! After eating healthier for a couple weeks it will get so easy. Don't be afraid to season your veggies or top with sauces. Whatever it takes to get them in! ☺

I get my husband to eat veggies by adding bacon but he's like a dog and will eat anything. I will find a root veggie recipe and send it to you.
