They base premature off of how early you were when you delivered . I had my son at 36 weeks and 5 days and he was 6 lbs 11 oz but because he was 2 days early and didn't get to full term which is 37 weeks he is considered premature

He was in preemie clothes and diapers but was born at 39 weeks 3 days
