So i was told today that its better for your body to naturally tear a little than be cut? Any opinions? My doctor is "old school" and has pretty much told me that im having a big baby and hes planning on giving me an episiotomy..... I was also told by my boss that if you massage that area while you're in the beginning of labor it can prevent tears? ANY experienced comments are welcome TIA

thank you so much for that article it answered a lot of my questions! :)
@ladyalianne I have heard from other people that it did help. My best friend did these and she only ended up with 1 small tear during her 3rd birth. No tears or cuts with her first 2.
@ladyalianne I'm sorry but I have no personal experience..I have had all c sections.. I did do a lot of reading on it before my first born because it was something that worried me.
@6plus1pettybetty have you tried this yourself? dodes it really work or is it just something you can do that "mayhelp" im due the 27th so if i started now would it even help?
you don't want an episiostomy. Its pure laziness from doctors sometimes. My midwife stretched me out while I pushed and I only got 2 small tears. Massage will help.
My midwife stretched and massaged me with olive oil whike I was pushing with my first and I only had to get 1 stitch! I really do believe massaging helps. My midwife recommended doing it myself starting at 36 weeks!
