I feel like most couples work as a team, pay bills, do the cleaning and just work as a team lol.... And me and my SO not so much. After being in Tennessee with my mom's friend and their daughters families I realized how it's just so different. They are married and everything but when you live with someone and try to build with them even if you aren't married just yet, it's ideal to be a team and talk about the important things, not just ignore it all and do it on your own.
