I need opinions please. My apartment lease is up October 31st and will automatically roll into m2m if I do not notify them of any change of plans. So here's my dilemma I could either A. Skip out on paying the last month of rent use the full paycheck that I get to get a uhaul and pack everything that I can carry and move from AL to IN and have money to get an apartment up there and lights (water is included in rent) but then I'll be 5 car payments behind on my vehicle. Or I can B. Sign an extended 7 month lease and then by the time income tax comes around use that money to catch up on the vehicle payments I'm behind on and what's left over use the rest to move from AL to IN and have time to give a 60 day notice to my current apartment complex.
Only problem is I have complained to the apartments (current one) about the loud music the neighbors play at all hours of the night, their loud car base that shakes the apartment (I'm in 2nd floor) and wakes my child up. The fights that happen literally outside my door where my first gut instinct is to jump up and go protect my son from whatever could happen. The fact that maintenance tells them they have came and fixed x y and z and never once came to actually do it and I've told the apartment and they said they will send someone out and never do.
So do I just up and move and struggle to get my life started back up with bills and such but I'll have a 2 year old who could sleep through the night for the 1st time in as long as I can remember and a newborn (I'm due in February) that I know will be safe from gun fire and all hours of the night music and fighting OR do I suffer here for 7 more months until may or so (if I counted the time correctly) and move then?
Please no bashing I just need advice and I have an idea which direction I'm leaning just need some other thoughts and opinions

If you feel like the environment is unsafe for your baby and the one on the way I would move without a doubt. Because bills can be paid eventually but if there is gun firing and what not you never know what a lost bullet can take from you permanently. As a mother myself I see both ways to be a struggle. One is with money & the other is with safety. But tell you what, at the end of the day it is really up to you mami. I hope you can find a decision fast & get a solution for your dilemma.🌸

You don't want it to go on your credit or rental history because then you wont be able to find another place.

I know the feeling. Have you tried to see if the police will do anything? When I told them about all the fights and parties around me and how I was worried for my baby girls safety, the started patrolling our apartment complex and helping keep things safer. It gave me enough time to move out of there and not have to break a lease and get that horrible credit problem

@kaytibug2009 I have told the police they said there is nothing they can do until the apartments make a complaint and told me to let the apartments know about it and the apartments haven't done anything about it

@dianne0825 that's so not right. Here in Texas, if a tenant complains then the police have to do something about it. Especially if you tell the police that you're worried about your child safety or if the other tenants are "disturbing the peace" and disrupting your child sleep.

I'm in AL as well and you have renter's rights. You can contact them with a final official written notice of your complaints. If you're living in unsafe, unsanitary and/or unliveable conditions (and they continue to do nothing about them) contact a lawyer. Depending on how long this has been going on, and any evidence you may have on complaints already, go ahead and call. Be sure to keep up with when you've made previous complaints, contacted law enforcement and take a picture of the notice with the date listed clearly. I hope you get everything worked out and if not sue them.

I see your issue on both sides of it but I would do what is best for the safety of my child.
