Any moms diagnosed with gestational diabetes?? What was your experience like? Was baby okay? I have it and im a bit worried.
Hated it...felted like I failed as a mother but she was perfect just a lil small and they had to test her blood sugar because I was dieting but after a day she was perfect
I was. My experience was not fun! Hated the dieting, the finger pricks.. baby is okay but we had complications during delivery. Baby couldn't come out so I ended having an emergency c-section (not fun) & baby was born 10 pounds & with jaundice & a week later we got re admitted to the hospital for my baby to go under phototherapy. Highly stress to keep a healthy diet & healthy weight
@cedes_shari no problem. It's rough going through this change. Feel free to message me if you need support or just want to rant about how frustrating it is. (Trust me it'll get there) Just keep in mind it's all for baby 😊
I have to test my sugars every day 4x a day. 1x in the morning when I wake up then an hour after every meal. I can tell you for sure any extra sugary sweet things like candy, sodas and juices are 100% out. That was the first thing they told us. Also, they said to keep to breads and fruits for carbs but your meals should be mostly veggies and meat because they are low carb and keep you full.
Also drink lots of water and walk at least 30 min. Water and exercise help keep blood sugar down. But obviously don't push too hard
Im not one to be controlled so i know its going to be a struggle for me. I haven't been doing much of any exercise this whole pregnancy but some walking here and there.
I had to do it blindly the first week. But my doc sent me to a nutrition class that they hold for GD. Basically said to limit any carbs, so breads and sugars. You can eat them in minimal amounts. Just have to find ones that don't spike your blood sugar. Is your doc making you test at home?
I had it when I was pregnant. It's hard because you crave all the stuff you can't have. But I was considered high risk so I got to see him on the ultrasound once a week. Once you give birth they check to make sure their sugar levels are good. It's not that bad just a strict diet and exercise.
I just found out yesterday. Its hard to have no symptoms and always worry if im eating the right foods.
@momma_dee, yikes so glad you're ok.
