So like a year or so ago I went to the ER because I got a UTI they did blood work and gave me a shot boom I was out of there .. No insurance and I received the bill in the mail months later for $148.00 for ER Visit..
a little while down the line I had gotten pregnant, I had my son beginning of October , premie , and ended up not being able to go back to work at my old job.
I applied to countless places but I've just now found a job 9mnths later and was able to have money to enroll my son into daycare.
I'm now working part-time in retail and my checks are just enough to pay daycare fees and bills 😞 yet I was summoned this week and their suing me for $1k !
I don't have money to even get on a payment plan which they say the lowest is $56 😓
Anyone know what to do..?
Someone said I could take my bills to the hospitals administration office n tell them to let a charity pay it off since I'm unable to do so.. is that accurate?

U sould of went tho government hun all that hospital stuff would of been free and it's programs out there for single moms that need help with paying for day care

I would have to file for child support and I haven't because my bf does provide and help with all of our sons needs so I didn't think I could go that route.
I think maybe it's too late now since a case was made to do anything.

If you get medicade through the gov they will cover old hospital bills since it was recent

You can either let it go to collections where they'll settle on a percentage of what you owe. It's typically 30% for medical bills and they'll allow you to go on a payment plan for that as well. Or you can pay the 1k in installments. I work in an ER and I've never heard of any charities kicking in to pay medical expenses. Hopefully you get it worked out!

My boyfriend has tons of hospital bills from when he broke his back and he is always getting hurt. He works construction side jobs. Doesn't usually pay them because he doesn't have the money. That's why he doesn't like going to the hospital unless he absolutely has too. They never come after him, I didn't know they could sue.
