I think it's a beautiful name but I like older names. She's your baby though, and you need to be happy with it, not him or anyone else. If nothing else you could call her by her middle name? My youngest name is Reagan George, but everyone else calls him Georgie because my husband really wanted to name him George after his grandpa. I don't mind it even though I really didn't like George for a name but this way everyone's happy.
I think this isn't about his family and if you can say flat out that you don't like the name then I wouldn't do it. I understand wanting to make everyone happy but if you aren't happy with it then it shouldn't be done that way. Maybe compromise a little if you can but if it's not in your heart then you should try to go a different direction. Good luck ππ
It's nice, and usually I like old fashioned names, but this one just strikes me as OLD. What about doing Miriam or Marian? It's close to Mariam but may be a good compromise?
This isn't fair to you at all. He should comprise, especially if you don't like the name. Either Have him name the next child, use Miriam for a middle name, or combine the name. If they get upset who cares, it's just a name and they will love the baby regardless.
My baby will be Puerto Rican/ Moroccan . I've been trying to tell him let's put it as a middle name & I feel as his family is pressuring him to make it the name
