How long should the car seat stay rear faced? My baby is growing so fast. I don't want his legs all smushed .. he's already 13 and a half lbs

@exoticyuri, I've learned a lot through a fellow mommy here. She has a car seat safety group. It doesn't matter what their height or weight is, their bones aren't fully developed and that's what makes forward facing too early dangerous. Only time develops their bones. I plan on keeping my baby girl rear facing until at least 3. But you can do whatever you want, it's your child! I'm pretty sure the law is rearfacing until 1 though. A lot of states have crappy car seat laws unfortunately.

Rear facing until at least 2 years old. My convertible car seat is up to 40 lbs rear facing and my daughter will rear face until the weight limit. In other countries they rear face until 6 years old.

@theinkedmommy, I always thought it went by weight and height not age.. me and my sister were both freakishly tall all our lives 😹

@exoticyuri, 1 year is the minimum. BARE minimum. Broken legs, cast it. Broken neck? Casket....

2 years is safest and most states are changing their laws to two years old. My daughter is 5 (forward facing) but still sits cross crossed. They will
Find a way to be comfortable

Depends on state I think. In AL it use to be 20 lbs or a 1 year old when they can turn around.
