So I know its too early to sleep train but I'm thinking I'm going to start giving him about 10 minutes of crying time with a check in and soothing session at 5 minutes to give him a chance to start figuring out how to self soothe. Especially since naps have been so challenging in general. He sucks on his hand/thumb pretty regularly so I think he'll eventually figure out how to calm himself down.

Hate hearing him cry but he can't continue to rely on my boobs and continuous rocking to go to sleep. Especially since those methods have been working less and less effectively recently.

We have a pretty good bedtime routine going, but I definitely have to get more consistent about naptime routines. Why does sleep have to be such a stressful thing?!

I'm not letting him CIO. Its 10 minutes and I'm checking in on him in between. After the 10 minutes I'm doing what I gotta do. Its just to let him start learning.

I fully support doing this. I did this with my daughter at about 4 months when she was waking out of habit. Go for it mama! My baby used to only nap on me too. Now I put her in her crib and go in every two minutes to rub her head till she's asleep. At night she now sleeps from 6pm-3am. Eat and sleeps till 5am. Eat and sleep till 6 or 8. If she wakes up earlier or out of habit I give her 10 minutes and she falls asleep.

@mamatojessegrace yeah hes almost 4 months and naps are always a struggle. And now hes started acting the same way at bedtime. I just want to give him the opportunity to start learning how to self soothe. I know he's starting to do it because sometimes he'll put himself back to sleep when he wakes at night. Lately he's only been needing 1 or 2 night feeds so I know he's almost there.

@vward, that's great! You know your baby best. I don't think it's too young. The older they get the most resilient they will be. To me, now is the perfect time.

Мама дочки-младенца, беременна (6 нед.)

I started sleep training mine once she was about five weeks. I started with just putting her down drowsy. Then after a couple weeks I started letting her lay there and grunt (not cry I still won't do that) and now she takes naps by herself and doesn't wake through the night. Except when she wants her binky
