What do you guys think. Pax has both lip and tongue tie like both me and my husband. It has never caused us any problems with speech or eating. His latch is great, he's gaining and has a good amount of diapers every day. The lc in the nicu said his tongue was very mobile unlike most tongue ties and that the only real problem they cause is with latching and he doesn't have that problem. And his lip almost always flares up when he nurses. The ent he seen said to wait till he eats solids and if it causes a problem then then there is no need to clip them. I asked about how it can cause a high pallet, or any of the other concerns with not clipping and he said that they're not even sure if some of those are cause by ties. What should we do? Ik most will say to clip them anyway but id just like to point out that this baby has had sooo much pain, medications, and so many problems.. Do you think if his nursing and solids isn't a problem is it really necessary with how mobile both of the ties are?

My first born tongue was tied, it never effected her nursing but it was bad enough that it would have caused speech problems. Its a 2 second procedure, they arent put to sleep for it. My daughter got hers clipped at 5 months old, cried a second then latched right away and was heald within a week, never swelled or anything. Its honestly your decision if you want it done. But just because you and your husband don't have problems don't mean your baby wont either. Doctors actually cant tell if it'll be a problem until the time comes of them talking and eating solids.

@sarahmartinez817 thank you! That's what we wanted to do but wanted to get other inputs on it. Yes he's doing so much better

My son didn't have a tie, so take this with a grain of salt, but if it isn't interfering with his latching and eating, then I'd hold off. I know your little guy got off to a rough start, so if there isn't a problem right now I'd just leave it. I'm glad he's been doing better!
