@kaela3, yea it started at acid reflux but by week 21 it developed into GERD for me. The relaxin hormone that allows the baby to grow and the uterus to expand also relaxed the valves of my stomach that usually prevent the acid. Now I literally can just sit still and not do anything and if my daughter moves or pushed my stomach in anyway my mouth fills with acid - it is the strangest most horrible thing I have ever experienced - and no one I know who is pregnant has ever had it - so no one can tell me if GERD lasts past birth.

@kaela3, oh I hear you- half the time it starts to create a burning so bad that all that comes up is pure acid. I tore my esophagus last night from throwing up acid 😑 so I have an appt tonight. Though I am sure it won't result in much. I just want to give birth and have my hormones stop this crap lol

@kaela3, it has been horrible - but my ob is super strict and it's my first - any drug that is "class c" they won't allow.
Feel better xoxo

@kaela3, you are so lucky they let you continue taking omeprazole- they made me stop because of risk to the baby and I have been suffering through zantac and Pepcid. Now that I have the full blown HG on top of it they let me take Zofran but even that is when I am crying uncle. 😑
