Alrighty listen up here ladies, I am a VERY proud Hispanic woman but sometimes it's tough. The Hispanic/Latino community tend to be EXTREME BELIEVERS in superstitions & well that makes things tough for me. My boyfriend (Guatemalan) has been nagging me about the upcoming Eclipse this Monday & how I need to be careful. I ofc ignored him because I've never heard of this superstition before - but now his sister is nagging me on messenger begging me to wear a red ribbon on or around my belly b/c the Eclipse is no bueno for the baby. I'm now growing annoyed so I go to the greatest person I know, my grandmother (Dominican) but now even she is telling me it's true I must be careful not to look at the Eclipse. I'm so upset now! I love all things astronomy but fuck if my gram thinks it's no bueno then maybe it isn't? What do you guys think!?
@bryannajneal92, yeah it's bizarre. my grandmother is super religious so she claims she believes in it causing harm to the baby but not for superstitious reason. she says it has more to do with the strengths of the movement :.shrugs.: my grandfathers side however definitely has Dominican/Haiti/African roots so I know they would definitely be talking my ear off.
I'd say a lot if Dominican/Black families are big on that! It's the African roots in you momma! We are super superstitious. Just pray on it and have faith. If you're religious then pray as well.
I just googled about these superstitions lol. They mostly say lunar eclipse though this one is solar, you can fight back😆
Lmao I'm Dominican too I believe in nothing but God's will and that's enough lol my mom and everyone told me crap and my son thank God nothing even happened
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
Science!
My friend posted this on facebook last night and said her kids were asleep within minutes. It's a song that scientists created to help people fall asleep. I was skeptical but I thought what the hay, I'll try it out. I didn't bank on Dh falling asleep, but both him and lo were asleep by minute 2. And lo slept six straight hours. ?
Starting TWW. Anyone else?
I had a stillborn daughter at 38 weeks this passed Nov. This is my second month ttc. (Last month we only tried for like two weeks though). My last and only pregnancy, I got pregnant the first month of ttc so I hope it's quick this time again.
the amount of women who are clueless about their own anatomy is so sad and shocking. a lot of the women are older than me and have more children then I do 😳
now I understand that everyone has their own opinion on the topic and grown adults can do whatever they want with their bodies but to deny facts and make up false statements about your own anatomy when it comes to your unborn child is just so disappointing.
