So now that it's become a problem I need to find a solution. Weston will not sit down in the bath tub to save my life. He has fell before and scared me to death it literally takes 2 to bathe him because I don't feel safe bathing him alone anymore I literally can't blink because he stands up in a matter of seconds and he's all wet and covered in soap it's super hard to hold on to him. What can I do? I've tried distracting him with toys but he would rather stand up at the faucet and play with the knobs and such.
We've been having the same issue! I've started putting her in while the tub is still filling and washing her as fast as I can, because for us the running water is a big enough distraction that she doesn't usually try to stand up. Then once she's washed as soon as she tries to stand up I tell her no and sit her back down. If she tries it again, bath time is over. We've had a week of pretty short baths but tonight she actually sat and played for quite a while so I'm hoping that means she's figuring it out...
I second the grip thing for the bottom of the tub. My daughter stands all the time and the grip helps so she doesn't slip. I also got a cover that goes on the facet so if she did slip and fall it won't hurt her really bad. It's made of a hard rubber. Those were the best things I ever invested in.
Or if you just don't want him standing at all get a bath seat he can't get out of
Try putting a rectangular clothes hamper with slots in. That way he's in a confined area with his toys. If he likes to stand add a non slip bath mat inside. That's what helped us. We pushed it as far back from the faucet as possible and turned his back towards the faucet.
