You may need to report that in my honest opinion it may become a health hazard to her and you don't want that falling back on you I'd mention it to your supervisors before she end up on tlc hoarders because the city wants to condemn house

@mommysbabies, oh it is definitely being reported first to her emergency contact and then if they are non reactive to APS. I just wondered if anyone else has a similar position or is required by work to enter these situations and what they are doing while pregnant.

Got ya if it was me I may ask for a different client but the cat urine would make me puke and then being out door cats they are more likely to be carrying something than like my cats we have two boxes in our house one for each cat but if you can't get off their case I'd just get a mask and don't touch anything just to be safe for you two

@autumnarrival17 I did clinical case management with the mentally ill population in the past. It wasn't always easy and I would evualute on a case by case situation. I sometimes found it uncomftorable in the field with situations with individuals who were drugs abusers, hoarders, had bed bugs etc. Honestly, your pregnant and your health comes first. I personally wouldn't go into those homes if I felt it was a hazard to my health or were putting me in danger. I'd suggest talking with a supervisor about your concerns.

It's because you are responsible for someone else's life not just your own and you want to make the right choices for them because they are not able to make their own

@autumnarrival17 I know the feeling. I sometimes think about situations I've been in the past that id never put myself in now.. I had a dual dign client who was a substance abuser (crack) she had needles and drugs all in her apartment. I'd go in and conduct inspections like nothing. Even saw a needle on her sofa one time. Thankfully, with some family intervention she was able to change her ways. Heck was I thinking though?? Lol

It's tough trying to establish a fine line in this field.

@gmartinez31, I think back to when I worked in bklyn- i was in intensive outpatient substance and had so many mandated clients - I never knew what they had on them or with them- we definitely had angels with us lol

@starrhunt16, I was thinking of HHAs and CNAs it must be so hard because your work is all based in the client's home - and of course there is only so much you can do
