just left the doctors office from getting my son circumcised and he's literally already peed on the gauze. The paper works says it should fall off on its own but if it doesn't to remove after 24 hours.. does that mean it's safe to keep it on even if he pees or do I need to go ahead and change it?
@infamousmama_, we use plastibells but some offices use a metal device. The plastibell with gauze typically falls off on its own so I'm not sure how it's placed on him. I have never seen any infections but if you are uncomfortable then I would call the office. I'm sure they knew he would pee and possibly the urine saturating the gauze will cause it to fall off on its own.
@tasticmel, how'd he do with the first change, and how'd you remove/reapply the gauze?
@nk2510, that seemed unsanitary to me, I'd think it'd irritate it. And just gauze.
I was never told to leave it. I was told to change as needed until completely healed.
My son acted just fine when I changed it. It didn't bug him. He was circumcised the day after he was born. They gave me a tube of Vaseline and gauze. I just covered the side of the gauze that's touching him in Vaseline and put it on him.
