So, this gestational test... What's the drink taste like and which is the best flavor to choose?

@jodeciafranklin, you can fail the test if your sugar is too high meaning you'd have gestational diabetes. That can cause Down syndrome in your baby. They give you needles to test your blood 4-6 times a day and you have to eat a special diet.

@jodeciafranklin i don't remember if i got a choice. All i know i was praying it wouldn't be grape or i would've thrown up at the smell(i did not get grape😂). I got orange and it tasted like flat orange OVERLY OVERLY sugary soda. It burned a lil but after but i also only had 5 minutes to drink the whole thing it also made me nauseous but i had to fast for it so that was mainly why. One of my food aversions while pregnant was sweets and this was actually not hard to drink depsite it being overly sweet. Oh and it kinda tastes likenits diluted. The test also doesn't determine if your son has diabetes it determines if YOU have gestational diabetes(it will go away once you have your baby). Its not as bad as you may think it will taste lol

I had to drink (first two pregnancies) like a bathroom sized cup of the orange and it was like a flat Sunkist. It burned a little like I guess orange juice does your throat. I had an enormous breakfast and passed the test with flying colors. First pregnancy I had to fast and I was like 2 points too high and failed but retook the test a month later and my bloodwork was fine.

@jodeciafranklin I had to do the 24 hr urine jug test, too but I'm still waiting for the results, but so far, the tests I've taken haven't had any protein and I have to take a "baby" asprin starting today to help prevent preclampsia. @jodeciafranklin high blood pressure, which was like 170/101 at my first apt. And my weight and almost age I'm almost 34. Last time, on meds, it was 130/80 whew! Got it managed. Lol

You have five minutes, and it was like one of the smaller bottles of soda, like 8-12oz. I had to wait an hour, and then they took blood and a urine sample. Lol

@jodeciafranklin i didn't have a choice either. You might not be able to have a choice. I got fruit punch, tasted good to me. Made the baby very hyper the rest of the day.

@starwars-mom I just think the taste would make me puke, I have no clue what to expect and I hope my son doesn't have diabetes.

I also had soooo much sugar for breakfast AND an Italian soda with two flavors before! I wasn't expecting to take the test at 10 weeks... Lol whoops.

Yeah, I drank it in like three swigs and I just sat and looked here and fb and played a game of dots, and then bam! The hour was over! I did sip on a bit of water, too

@jodeciafranklin if you easily get nauseous when you have to fast then it can be hard to keep it down. I fasted for 3 hours (so pretty much all morning) and I was so light-headed and nauseous 🤢

@starwars-mom Yikes, okay I won't get that one. I'm scared I'm gonna chug it or whatever and then baby not like it and I just puke it all up.

I got the fruit punch. Tasted like a cherry Tums. Was way too sweet, and hard to get it down because it was so sweet.

I didn't get a choice, but I got lemon lime and it just tasted like a sweet flat sprite. :]
