So yesterday while out at a doctors appointment my oldest (2yrs old) was playing with a lil girl. She then tried playing with the little girls fake/play jewelry but the girl didn't want to share. I told my daughter leave her alone it's her jewelry she doesn't have to share if she doesn't want to. Then her mother chimes in and tells her daughter "you must share, it's okay let her play with it" I immediately intervened saying "no she doesn't need to share, and my child needs to learn that she can't just get anything she wants especially when it doesn't belong to her" the mother gave me a nasty looked grabbed her child and moved to the other side of the waiting room. Now I'm pretty sure she may have misunderstood what I said. But here's a life lesson for parents in general never force your children to share something that belongs to them with a stranger let the child choose if they'd like to share or not.

Yes! I tell the boys this. You don't have to share, but it's nice if you do.

@damiensmommy1117, she can tell her kid what ever she pleases but my child was involved so I spoke up for my child and how I do things with her. My child will not think it's okay to be asking strangers for their stuff.

I agree with what you're saying, but I'd be kind of peeved too if someone told my kid the exact opposite of what I just told them lol
