I really hope no one bashes me for this. But my daughter is over 4 months old and has been waking out of habit. She typically sleeps from 6pm-midnight and then up again at 3 and every hour past that. So she's been gaining very well and growing like a weed. Last night I fed her when she woke up at midnight. She woke up at 2:30 and cried for 10 mins and then went back to sleep. Woke up at 3:30 and I let her cry. She crie/fussed for 30 mins and fell back asleep until 5. I got up and fed her and she slept in till almost 7. Has anyone else done this? Some fellow mommies said it's great to help break the habit but I'm scared I'm hurting her. I know 30 mins seems like a lot but all the reading I've done on cio says going in will make it more counterproductive.
@twinsandcounting, okay gotcha. My routine is about the same as yours. I can put her in her crib awake and she falls asleep. But it's the random night waking she won't go back to sleep unless I give her my boob and she just like nurses for 15 seconds and it's out again.
@mamatojessegrace, my son has anxiety issues but that's due to some minor vision issues that he has. But that never affected his sleep. My daughter in the other hand is miss independent lol. Always has been. She's bright and happy and mischievous haha.
What we did was routine. We bath them, then dry them off and massage them with some sleepy time coconut oil in a dim lighting. We also put them in a sleep sack since they can't be swaddled anymore. Afterwards I nurse them, rock them and sing to them in that dim lighting. Once they fall asleep, I place them in their cribs. When we first started training them, they would wake up maybe 2-3 hours later. I would go in without turning the lights on and rub their bellies. I would also sing to them for about 5 minutes. Then I would leave and close the door. If they started to cry again, you want to wait and see how upset they are. If they'd whimper, I didn't go in. If they were legit mad and yelling, I went back in after about 5-10 minutes and sang to them and rubbed their bellies. I did that over and over again every 10 minutes until they fell asleep.
You have to be consistent with it.
@grayslyns-mommy-stepmommalovinglife, yeah It wasn't easy but it wasn't a "hard cry" more of a fussy whine. If it turned into an intense cry I would have gone in.
@twinsandcounting, and how long did you let them cry?
@twinsandcounting, thank you!! Did they have any increased anxiety or issues? I don't completely cut out her feedings. I just feed her twice and not at every waking.
I've heard mixed things about it being too early and some say it's the perfect time to do it. I read the book "healthy sleep habits, happy child" and they suggested four months
We sleep trained our twins at 3 1/2 months. They were not too young. It worked perfectly. They are not upset or scarred over it. They are now on a proper schedule and get the healthy amount of sleep that they need. Because of this they are happier during the day and are developing nicely.
Do what works for you and your baby!
When my son was 4 months, he'd wake a bit and cry out whenever he rolled over or changed position. Our rule was that if he cried for more than a few minutes, or if it was a serious cry, we'd go in and get him, but if we went in every time he cried we'd be in there every hour. Usually he'd fall right back asleep within minutes, less than five. He's done that since birth, though, random cries while still asleep.
TWW!!
2dpo and on the tww journey. Anyone on the same dpo or close? Haven't decided if I will test at 12dpo or just wait and see if she shows up!!
So....Layla is still sleeping?!
It's been over 12 hours. She hasn't woke up! Not once! She used to sleep like this but not lately. I actually woke up concerned, once I saw what time it is. She's ok, I saw her moving, but I'm like, "Huh?" Lol
Baby won't bear weight on leg
I have a walking 10 month old and she has been extra fussy yesterday and today. Today I noticed she didn't really want to crawl, she would just cry until I came and picked her up. After I fed her, I tried setting her down to play with her big sister and she just started crying and wouldn't put any weight on her left leg. She will put weight down on her right leg but then just cries until you pick her back up. I thought maybe she just didn't want to be put down (as ...

omg... I'm so depressed my child cries more than she doesnt..The only time she's not crying is when she's alsleep.. but she only sleeps 30 minutes each time. she won't sit in her carseat, her crib, pack n play , her swing, bouncer nothing!!! I have to hold ger 24/7 even when she's sleeping or else she will wake up. I'm tired I don't get any sleep nothing soothes her I don't even remember the last time I had enough time to bathe :'( I love her so much but this is so challenging
@mamatojessegrace, I see! Welp, I'm no expert but there comes a time when the night feedings need to end. So if you think the CIO method will work best, try it! It can be done safely ☺️ Good luck!!
