Yesterday baby bear had his 1yr appointment. Dr said he is no longer getting certain vitamins and stuff from nursing and to start switching to cow's milk and stop breastfeeding. Ummm I thought the recommendation is to BF until 2...what's correct?
@lelepatts, ah, then your dr is crazy. Unless they can show u test results that show baby has some kind of vitamin deficiency, by all means, keep breastfeeding as long as u can.
Keep breastfeeding mama❤️👌🏼🙂I am still breastfeeding my son that's 16months but, he will be 17months in 16 days. Just keep doing what's best for ur baby😘💜 @lelepatts
It seemed like so many places keep rooting for moms to breastfeed as long as possible but once u hit a year, all that support drops off. Doesn't make sense to me and makes me feel weird about continuing as long as we can
Cows milk is for baby cows. It has nutrients specific for a baby cow. Your milk has nutrients specific for your LO. If BF for as long as u want.
@momofgirls1517 ok side question! How does weaning work?! I feel like I'm still forcing my son to nurse lol do you still keep trying or only do it if they ask for it? He can now sign for milk so should I only do it when he asks? Also he uses me as a pacifier through the night & idk how to stop that 😭😭
@beebaby 😂😂 right?! I really liked this Dr too but now I'm like ugh whatever you suck lol
@momofgirls1517 that's what I'm thinking of doing. Try a little cow's milk with meals but still nurse for naps & at night like I've been doing.
@jordyn_beth @chasha2017 @beebaby exactly! I guess he figured that in combo with foods but I always thought breast milk STILL has special stuff to encourage development and everything! He pretty much told me it's not doing much for LO anymore and its more to help him sleep now...i stood there nodding along and saying ok but in my mind I was like I'm pretty sure you're wrong but idk
Yes, @jordyn_beth exactly. He'll get his nutrients from the food he eats.
Giving cow's milk is recommended after 1 year. It's your choice if you want to give it to your baby and when you want to stop breastfeeding.
My baby is mostly Breastfed. She eats baby food occasionally but I just feed on demand & she stays content. I probably should add a prenatal to my diet too I guess!
