Okay mama's I've been very mislead and misinformed on this app by a fellow mother before I gave birth, she stated drinking was okay while breastfeeding.. ITS NOT !! You have to allow yourself at minimum 3 hours per drink to not excrete thru breastmilk, depending on the content of alcohol per drink.. I took my babygirl to her first appt today and her pediatrician strongly encouraged me not to drink period while breastfeeding but with further investigation 3 hours is even cutting it short.. I had a drink tonight but I also have a 24 hour supply of breastmilk stored for her.. please drink with caution newborns livers are very vulnerable right now.. that is all 🤗
If you can drive, your can breastfeed. BM is just like your blood. It's always better to feed then drink. And if you get sloppy drunk then of course you shouldn't feed. But i have to disagree with your dr. No reason to wait 24 hours. Or pump & dump like other use too.
Well ain't that the truth. I don't know why they say alcohol is okay but certain meds aren't. It is hard to understand but it has something to do with the break down. It is weird. But if you think about it, mothers give babies gripe water for gassy babies. Certain brands contain alcohol. Most people don't even look. It's hard to avoid it all
I know fully well what I u are saying he was just my third opinion on the matter
That's why I consulted all I could.. it still don't make sense how a pill can be taken and not excreted but alcohol can
I try to gather all the info I can because it's been misleading when you try to research it yourself.. I had a cesarean and was prescribed Percocet and was on a morphine drip for two days and they all assured me it wasn't excreted THRU breastmilk and I just couldn't fathom how the he'll alcohol is then ya know? Doesn't make sense AT all to me
Pediatrician is a doctor OBGYN is a doctor , lactation specialist is one I talk to from the hospital and not a doctor lady 😂 what's your trip
@mrs.collins You Only Said Pediatrician In your post and nothing about your OB or lactation consultant. Fyi A lactation consultant isn't a doctor. Anyone can be one really. But we can always agree to disagree. No problem there. I wish doctors were more informed but they arent.
And btw my doctors are 2 years younger than I am so I'm pretty sure they are freshened up on their courses 😊
With all the comments it looks like it is greatly untested and approved.. I'm pretty sure I'll be safe and have 1 drink and use my stores milk to protect my child
@beebaby strongly disagree 😂 I'm gonna go with my lactation specialist, pediatrician and OBGYN, who are all separate doctors..
Horse malarkey. Ive been told by multiple lactation consultants that if you are ok to drive then you are ok to breastfeed. Not every medical professional is up to date on new research.
He didn't say 24 hours I decided 24 hours..
