How do you no when your back ache turns into labor ?

Is it just back ache no contractions?

When it was accompanied with a cramping feeling and kept me awake.

All mine was like a dull ache and it comes and goes

Mine is dull to but it's getting a little stronger and it's coming and going , and yes I'm having contractions , I've been having Braxton hicks for about a month now .
