Is it absolutely necessary to switch to cows milk once LO turns 1? Any moms stuck with breast milk?

@skylarskeeper526 if you could pick one of the 2, which would you pick? Do you prefer almond? Or, do you give your LO what she prefers at the time?

@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom that makes perfect sense. Giving DD what she prefer is better than trying to force her into something she hates. Saves money and avoiding the "no" lol. Thank you!

To be quite honest if I bought any other kind of milk it would go to waste- my husband, and both kiddos LOVE cows milk so we just stick to that. I don't drink any form of milk so we would rather not buy anything that would potentially go to waste.

@ashleydunn is almond milk more beneficial? I think as long as LO is developing properly without any complications or concerns; weight shouldn't be a issue

Soy milk has more fat then dairy milk
Hemp and coconut milks also a great alternative and have more fat than dairy

@jasholbert lol sometimes I just want to respond "my daughter, my choice"... Which is why I prefer a lactation consultant preference than the PCP

@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom I totally do want DD to have more fat in her diet. Is there a reason you chose cows milk? Is it more beneficial than almond?

@jasholbert @beebaby @ashleydunn thanks mamas for your support; DD PCP kept telling me to switch to 2% when DD turns 1. I am more comfortable with breast milk. Thanks you gals, LOTS 😉

I'm still breastfeeding my almost 2 year old, but he also gets cows milk. I think it's a personal preference thing. My tiny tot needs more fat in his diet and I think cows milk helps with that, but if your little one is thriving on breastmilk you can totally stick with it longer! Don't let your kiddo's pedi talk you out of it if they try.

And when the doctor says something say, why would I switch from my breast to a cows breast?
