Kitten has diarrhea for two days so far and isn't making it to the litter box. Is that a reason to take him to the vet?

@liz41395, definitely a good idea. Our kitten was dewormed when we got him already, but we had him seen for his shots right away. Kittens and babies are wonderful together! Be safe and enjoy watching them grow together 😃

@liz41395, no cat likes the vet. I've had to sit on the table and pin one of my cats down before to get their shots. It's honestly not safe for it to be in the house with your 9 month old if it hasn't been seen by a vet.

@northwoodsmomma, he is so scared of people. Will they still see him and give him shots and stuff? I'm scared that they won't even see him

@liz41395, canned tuna in water is an okay treat for an older cat. I would avoid it for kittens as well. That could also be a factor of the diarrhea. With a baby in the house, you definitely need to take it in to be dewormed, get its first vaccines, and you may want to ask them to flush it's ears as well to make sure it doesn't have fleas. We just got my son an 8 week old kitten for his birthday two weeks ago.

@northwoodsmomma, I'll switch him. I think it's too much for him too. Is can tuna okay for kittens? My husband gave him canned tuna. Idk if he's supposed to be eating that. I shoulda done more research on this before agreeing to take this cat on. He was caught from outside. So he's scared of humans and runs away from them. It would be a hard task to get him to a vet, but I need to anyway for shots and to get fixed. I don't even know if he's a he.

@liz41395, well that's why he has diarrhea. Kittens need kitten food. And they need a mix of wet and dry. They're like babies. They can't digest certain things just yet. I'm sure if you switch him to kitten food, you will see an improvement in his bowel movements in the next few days.

I would take it to the vet . When my kitten had diarrhea the vet told me to give it hard food and when that didn't work they said he had a virus . I would be safe then sorry

@northwoodsmomma, I believe 8 weeks. We just got him. We are feeding him regular cat food. Should we switch to something just for kittens? Or soft food or something? He was going in the box the first two days we had him great. Idk what happened unless he cant hold it because he's sick.

How old is your kitten? They should be potty trained by 8-10 weeks. What are you feeding it?
