Kinda mom related. I found out my mom had gotten a DUI a month ago. She hasn't said anything to me. My mom someone got it dropped to a misdemeanor. My mom is an alcoholic and for years we've tried to help her stop. She's been an alcoholic for about 4-5 years now. Ever since my grandpa had died. Monday my brother and I are going to try and give her an intervention. Has anyone been through something like this? What did you do to help. She used to go to AA meeting but doesn't anymore. She's stubborn.

I am a recovering alcoholic and I can tell you that the best thing for you to do to help her is take her to AA. Make sure you find a good home group and go as often as you can once, twice, or three times a day. Encourage her to talk. Try to help her see the similarities and not the differences. Some times it helps knowing that youre not alone and finding a group of people you can relate to who are there for you and care about seeing you stay sober. That is number one in getting and staying sober. Its a lifestyle change as well. Friends and family members who drink need to be cut out of the alcoholics life. They need to develop new hobbies that revolve around having fun while sober with people who are sober. If you have any questions to help you understand what she is going through or anything at all you can message me and ill do my best to help you. Prayers
