Anyone take their kid out their car seat to breastfeed? There's a big debate with moms over this . Personally I never taken my son out the car to feed him but if someone takes their child on public transportation and the VEHICLE IS MOVING Mommy is going to feed their child . Is she supposed to get off the bus and sit in the cold or heat to feed her baby?If you're a distance and someone doesn't want to stop the car while they're going a decent speed , or you're stuck in traffic I don't see a problem . If they start choking because you want to breastfeed in the car seat you have to take them out right away . The reason why I'm asking is because these moms are telling this mother she's disgusting, etc and if anything I think their disgusting for bashing a mother when they have no idea what their situation is .

@karen309, and I thank you for your civil exchange 💖. I had a breast pump so I probably bring bottles and drop it in there and feed him like that . I understand the safety but I don't think people understand there are circumstances where a mother cannot get someone to pull over , deal with back problems etc. People wanna say no excuses but In the end you don't know a person situation so you shouldn't go out the way to say they're a horrible mother ,etc just because you wouldn't do that .

I don't make a habit of taking her out of her seat and if the day comes where she fights against being buckled in, she will see a mean mommy. I understand how people can be passionate about car seat safety because it is life saving information, but there is a difference between being tough and being mean. It could've been civil like this exchange here. I've wondered how other moms breastfed on the road. I packed bottles for the road and because I had to supplement with formula, it was a little easier to have a back up bottle in case we had to do an unexpected feeding.

I'm pretty sure that's illegal and super unsafe. Y'all not see how many accidents happen everyday? Especially while sitting in traffic?? I do like @ashleydunn does and lean over her seat to feed if she's really freaking out and needing to eat and we just can't stop. It's not a matter of "doing it your way" it's a matter of safety.

I've taken my lo out of the car seat while still on the road. We like to travel a lot and sometimes there's no exits nearby. The first trip we took, I did the mistake of putting her in too many layers and she started to cry so I took her out before we pulled into a gas station. She's not too much of a cryer so she freaked me out. We hung out at the gas station for a bit until she had calmed down and cooled down.

@love.torrey, exactly I think that's what kinda getting me because all they see is you took your kid out the car seat. Not everyone can do it "your way". They just want to be ready to jump down another moms throats.

Don't ever take your child out while the car is moving, unless it's an absolute emergency and you cannot stop. Choking for example. When I was still breastfeeding, I'd climb in the back and lean over the car seat with my boob out. Uncomfortable as hell, but i was able to feed my child while buckled.

@lilmelaninbarbie, right and that's nobody's business
The same way we breastfeed anywhere and don't care about people being uncomfortable
(B/c if baby is hungry NOW baby needs to eat NOW)is the same way I will breastfeed him anywhere else
But I don't really have to do that. But you're right sometimes you may not be able to pull over then what?

@love.torrey, same I would feed him before we go out ,but i was never gone from home long so I didn't have to worry . I never went long distance but if I did I would do it at a gas station when we get gas or while getting food . Sometimes people don't have an option though.

My husbands mom did in the 70s but it wasn't frowned upon then. Lol I highly suggest you NOT do that. I would just pull over to do whatever is needed.

I take my baby out to feed him. Although I never really have to because I feed him right when we leave home
I'm never gone more than an hour and 30 minutes
