@40717savannahgoodman to make it easier you just know every Sunday is your start of the next week. So this Sunday the 16th you'll be 12 weeks. Then the next Sunday you'll be 13, and so on.

Dang see that's where I messed up because my mom told me it was counting only 5 days then restart to the next

@40717savannahgoodman if you were 6 w 4 d on June 7th (a Wednesday) then the 11th (a Sunday) was the first day of your 7th week. So every Sunday is your week start day. (There are 7 days per week.) So yest, Sunday the 9th of July was the beginning of your 11th week. So you are 11 weeks 1 day today.

Okay.... if when I went and had my first ultrasound and they told me I was 6 weeks and 4 days which this was on the 7th of June... could you tell me how far along that makes me exactly I have trouble keeping up with the progress could you tell me then explain how the weeks are counted?

@40717savannahgoodman it goes by your due date. Which they determine by the first day of your last period. But if you had the 1st trimester ultrasound already then they measured and determined by that.

@40717savannahgoodman typically yes, unless they suspect a problem then they'll order additional ones. But usually you get one every trimester. First one is to measure to find out how far along you are and how many. Then they save the second for around 19 weeks which is called an anomaly scan. They measure all the baby's parts, check for complications and determine sex at that time. Then they'll check one last time in the third to estimate birth weight and when the baby will arrive.

Awwwww dang because they did one when I had my very first appointment because they had to tell me how far along I was so I'll have to wait awhile?

@40717savannahgoodman if they did one already you typically won't have another one until around 19 weeks. That's when the Sonographer can most confidently tell you the sex of the baby. But sometimes they can tell a little sooner, it just depends. So you will probably have about 6-8 weeks until you'll be able to find out.

Okay thank you so much... I have a baby doctor appointment later today at 10 a.m and my mom said they wouldn't do a ultrasound today because the next time I could back at the beginning of next month they will be able to tell if my baby is a boy or girl.... is that right?

@40717savannahgoodman not quite but you're approaching it. Technically 14 weeks is the beginning of your 2nd trimester. That's because medically, they consider your first 2 weeks your ovulation and implantation time.

I know I might should have already known the answer to this next question but I'm 12 weeks and 1 day along... is this the 2 trimester?

@40717savannahgoodman TOTALLY normal. Try some vagisil cream. Be prepared for weird rashes, itches and irritations during the second trimester. Your hormones are all over the place and the high levels of progesterone cause a lot of whacky stuff.
