My son got a fish for his birthday now I'm trying to figure out how many times to feed it any one have fish that could help me out.
@elenalee thank you I'll definitely take that advice I want to take care of this guy or girl the right way my son loves this fish he points at it and says ish. I was reading that they are sweet fish today is the first full day we've had it.
Oh! The biggest stress from water changes can come from temperature so make sure the water is about the same as the tank water.
You can treat tap water with drops and it's a lot cheaper. Also, if you need to move the fish you can get stress coat for the water but for partial water changes you don't need to move him:) I loved my goldfish. His "Afro " I called it, got so big and he would let me pet him when I put my hand in the water.
@elenalee I'm not sure but she went through a lot of fish said they get stressed when you move them I guess I've never had fish before. I'll need to get more water I was given distilled water by my son's other grandparents. I'll need to make a trip to petsmart or Petco.
They are like puppies... they will eat as much as you give them, but it's too dirty and they do best with good water. Maybe your aunt didn't treat the water correctly?? You will want to take 20% of the water out every week and replace it with fresh treated water. Also gravel vacuums are awesome.
@elenalee that's quite some time pretty cool. That's what I've heard that they get really big. I was thinking about that too that's Ive been having a hard time figuring out. My aunt had a few fish and they all died when she would clean the water. I should feed him once a day then. He just swims around with his little mouth open .
I used to have that same kind of goldfish and he lived for five years and got the size of my fist. The best thing for them is the quality of the water and if you feed him 3 times a day, you are gonna have a lot of waste. They don't need that much food. Once a day is fine and not more than they can eat at one time.
@miniwolfe I fed it twice today tomorrow will feed it three times definitely want it to last a long time.
@elenalee thank you especially for the advice don't know where to start when it comes to fish
