At what age is it safe for a little one to sleep with a blanket or comforter? We have a very small comforter in Olivia's crib that she tends to kick to the side
@noahs.mommy ya I just set up her crib as a co sleeper and put on a mesh bumper
@missliss @nowmrspost my son doesn't sleep in a crib yet. He's in a pack and play in my room right now so its just the mesh stuff but i plan on putting a mesh bumper on his crib when i transition him. Thats scary
My kids have both slept with blankets since day one ..as new borns of course swaddled and as they got older just covered they even both had stuffed animals in the crib..I always checked up on them ,their crib was always kept right beside my bedside ..I guess if they wouldn't have slept in my room I would've freaked and not kept anything like that around them
@nowmrspost, yea, she said somehow he got the blanket through the slats and wrapped around his head. He may have been twisting to try to get out, I'm just not sure how it got around his head in the first place 💔
@missliss I'm not sure, it said something about the blanket going through the slats and his head getting stuck in the blanket somehow? Did you read the mothers recount of it?
@momofdeuce, @noahs.mommy, @babynessa, thank you mamas 😊 I'll continue to let her sleep with it. She never uses it, but she won't sleep without it. It's always kicked off of her anyways. She takes after my husband lol
@nowmrspost, that's the article I read also, which is what prompted me to post this. Poor baby. I was in tears, almost had an anxiety attack. I can't even imagine what that poor woman is going through. I'm confused as to what happened, though. Did he get his head stuck in the crib with the blanket around it? I know cribs have slats, but I'm wondering how it happened because I know his head couldn't have fit in it.
My heart goes out to his family. I can't even imagine 😭
Idk I read a nightmare of a story last night about a baby dying from a blanket in crib 😭 ...that's me last night
I let my daughter start sleeping with a blanket at around 6-7 months. Now she crawls into her bed and pulls her comforter over her and snuggles with it during bed time.
My son sleeps with a blanket. It comforts him, he has 2 favorite ones and he only gets one blanket at a time. Most of the time he ends of laying on top of it and holding it. He's been doing this since i brought him home. Only because in the winter its an ice box in my room. @missliss
@jazzyjazz, she refuses to sleep without her bunny or her comforter. I've left them in since we started crib training her @noahs.mommy, they sell bumpers that are breathable. That's what I have for Olivia. It was made by a pediatrician and it's been great so far
