Anyone with a child older than Charlie, when they got to this age did they suddenly become fussy with food or is it just…

Yup! Started at that age and still going now. Shes obsessed with pasta so i just try to mix as many different things as i can with it. She will only eat toast with butter in the morning. She wont touch jam or anything else. She also only eats bananas

@kayteamay, I was hoping it's just a phase. I'm glad he's not the only one though. He used to be a brilliant eater but now he's so bad! He's refused his tuna sweet corn sandwich and instead is eating cucumber. I just worry he'll go hungry but at the same time I don't want to give in constantly giving him toast or dippers because he'll get used to it and then never eat anything!!

I always give her the option of something else. My mum always says if they are hungry they will eat! It wasnt until she started being picky that i realised she had an egg allergy so that was quite handy!

@kayteamay, well most days I've been making something, when he refuses it I make something else. But, I don't want to make a rod for my own back. At this age he's too young to understand I think, which is why I end up making multiple meals, but what age does he start to understand and I stop that and he has to eat what's there? 😩 oh gosh how lucky!!

Morgan always ate well until he got to toddler age. He still eats breakfast & lunch well but he's so fussy with hot meals. I don't make a fuss though, if he eats he eats if he doesn't he goes without. I always put something on the plate I know he likes but I'm not fussing about making him something else if he refuses. He s just more of a grazer.

@sara-lou86, do you think Charlie is old enough to not eat and go without? Like I hate the thought of him going hungry but I don't want to get myself in a bad habit of him always knowing he's gonna get what he wants. It's not healthy to always eat the same stuff and I don't know when I should be in the mind set of that's what you're having eat it or go without x

So when Morgan was younger I'd still offer fruit or yoghurt if he ate nothing but that was all. Once he was over 2 I'd offer just fruit. I never expect him to eat everything. As long as he tries dinner I'm happy. It was only when he refused. If you let them eat something else like pudding or toast they'll just learn if they cry or refuse you'll give them something else.

@sara-lou86, ah okay that makes sense. Yeah I've still being giving him a yoghurt if he hasn't eaten but I try not to give him treats, but that's difficult when you're living with your oh's parents and they're always giving him junk when he's not eaten. I'm bad for giving in tbh- he wouldn't eat his sandwich so I ended up making him toast. I'll have to start being cruel to be kind because I don't want him to be fussy and picky!

Haha yeh that's grandparents for you! We lived with my folks for a while when we had Morgan but they were pretty good. My husband's folks are awful. They were giving Max bits of cake & ice cream etc before I'd even started weaning! Was always having to tell them no & they would just say oh it's a grandparents perogative! You can still be fun Mum & give treats but I am strict when it comes to mealtimes. Morgan often has the choice so I'd ask him would you like this or that. I've tried getting him involved with the cooking/ chopping foods etc but he has no interest 😂

@sara-lou86, it's a bit of a nightmare when grandparents are like that isn't it. I mean they're doing t to be nice but it causes issues. Any time I tell Charlie off my partners dad starts soft talking to him and gives him cuddles it's like grrr. Typical boy then, doesn't want to get involved in the prepping and cooking just wants to scoff what you slaved away cooking 😂

As they geg older say 3 years an above. They tend to become fussier because they can taste an enjoy food. They understand taste of food an types of taste. Hope that makes sense. First 2 kids have been like that and 3rd ones reaching there.

Frankie hit 2 and now eats hardly anything 😩😩😩
