Everyone is telling me that my baby should be eating already (she'll be 6 months next weekend). What I would like is to wait till she seems interested herself but what are signs that she's interested in food. Also what are good foods to start off with & should she eat breakfast, lunch & dinner? & how much?
I'm so nervous to start her 😓😓😓
That's what I say but everyone I talk to it about says I should be started feeding her already. I will just start off with giving her tastes of stuff soonish, maybe a day I don't feel as nervous about it. Thank you ladies @brownsugarluv @begaynise23 @elysiansmama @shelby.espinosa91
Food before one is just for fun. Babies don't need anything more than breast milk or formula until then. Don't let anyone make you feel like your not on the right path of motherhood. 😃 good luck mama!
@nessa614, yea I had the same issue I was afraid she'd no longer want to nurse but she didn't have that prob! I started her at six months even tho she had teeth at three months... they say delaying solids can result in lag of motor skills and lack of desire for foods so I started her before it was too late
@nessa614, hmm that's up to u how often you want to try, it's better if you try a couple hours before bed when's she had food in her system and is relaxed but still eager , or u can try in am when she's more alert but after her normal feedings and not starving.
Thank You! I feel so much better about it @elysiansmama I just didn't want to force feed her or anything. I think that's what I'm mostly worried about since I only breastfeed. I'm scared she won't want to or not want to enough. I'm sure ill be able to tell though.
@elysiansmama idk why I can't tag you. She has her bottom teeth already poking thru. & can kinda sit up, I haven't really had her on me to where she'd be able to reach for food but I will try to start looking for those signs. & about how many times should I try with foods?
Do u plan on starting with jarred or table foods? I started with a ripe soft avocado next she tried sweet potatoes all pureeed tho , u can just use ur blender or food processor or fork to mash it. Babies like little portions so u can feed her a little bit two to three times a day, and she may eat all of it in the am and just want to play with it at dinner for ex. Make sure u wait three days to try new foods so u know which ones she's allergic too, I wrote it on a calendar on the fridge to keep track or however U wannna do it. Don't stress have fun with it and she will have fun w it too if she sees u happy she'll be eager to try it! Good luck 😁
@shelby.espinosa91 I think I might try just giving her tastes of stuff. I'm not really ready to start idk why @begaynise23 but my mil is so desperate in feeding her already, she's already planing on what to make her & I'm just like wth she's my baby I decide what to give her & I should decide when.
That's understandable some babies aren't ready when people think so. Signs that you'll know she's curious is if she tries to get your food or watches you eat, if she teething or has teeth, if she can sit up well...also when u do start her on solids she may just want to experiment and play w the food that's ok it's all her way of learning or she may just enjoy her food and try to feed herself. And if she makes a funny face it doesn't necessarily mean she don't like it, it could be her way of showing her reaction to diff tastes and textures .
I started solid and baby food at 5 months don't worry when you feel is time is time don't feel rushed
@nessa614, I didn't start right away when the doctor told me. I gave him tastes of things but never full meals until recently.
