Hi guys, my daughter is 3mo and I keep hearing not to use sun screen until 6mo? I took her swimming and still put some on her because I'd rather be safe than sorry. What's the reasoning behind it & has anyone used it and had/not had an issue?
There was a big story about a baby getting a reaction to banana boat...it was very severe she had to be hospitalized. But they make like long sleeve UV 50 shirts and stuff that you can buy and use a sun hat that has that as well ?? Just throwing out options
@alysonxo, hmm I don't know. I honestly just chose not to take chances I didn't take my youngest baby out in the sun for longer than a few minutes until he was at least 6 months old. I can't remember what I did with my first two lol!!
@brookemmoore, yes exactly. Someone had said that it's because their skin is still so new it absorbs everything & their pores can't filter out the sunscreen so it just stays in there and blocks everything
@alysonxo, that is so strange I mean really what's worse? Possibly getting a rash from being allergic (prob the reason behind waiting) or getting sun burnt and having baby in severe pain and at risk for skin cancer? Nope, I always go with sunscreen lol! Especially being fair skinned and knowing what I've been through. No way would I risk it with a baby.
@brookemmoore, yes it's on every bottle of baby suncreen! 6+ months. I even called my pediatrician and they told me not until 6 months. I don't get it. But like you said, I'm not chancing it. And thank you!
I use the babyganics. My pediatrician said its because of sensitive skin. But I dont want my baby to get burned
