Yea they will let the newborns stay in the nursery to give the mom a break bc you just gave birth and a lot of the time you're on pain meds so it's just there to help you

Like the other person said, to give moms a chance to rest before being sent home... my daughter was in the NICU after delivery, so I had no choice but to be away from her... but after 3 days in the hospital with almost no sleep, and then an unmedicated labor, I really slept hard the first few hours after birth... I woke up and felt like super woman... it was AMAZING what a few hours of uninterrupted sleep can do for a new mom!

I'm due in 2 weeks & I told them I do not mind him being in the nursery at all. When I had my first son I wanted him next to me all the time I didn't want him out of my site then when I got home I was dead to the world I was so tired. I learned my lesson get help while you can even if it means letting him go to the nursery so you can get a quick 30 min nap. I didn't realize how tired he got circumcised & I a hour went by & I didn't realize I fell asleep.

When I had my last child. I had a c section. And my ole man couldn't stay with me cause we needed someone to watch our other child. The first night they didn't want me doing all that moving nor getting out of bed cause the epidural. So my baby was back and forth between me and the nursery. When I needed to get some rest. Cause I fell asleep with her in my arms n thank God the pillow was between my arm n the bed rail.

It depends on the hospital. I am surprised they gave you that option at all. Most of them have transitioned to have the babies stay in the room with mommy all of the time. I had the option with my oldest, but with my last two they said "we don't do that anymore"

I had my son sleep in the nursery for half night when he was on the bili blanket because he never stopped screaming and I wasn't allowed to do anything because we weren't allowed to hold him

@brookemmoore, me and my bf kept him with us and if he decides he's cranky and wants to be irritable we take turns sleeping but both agree we want him with us

@exoticyuri, yes that's what my hubby and I did too. I kept all my babies with me but I do know there are moms who choose not too sometimes.

@brookemmoore, since I'm diabetic ,he was placed on top of my after my c section as soon as he was cleaned up. They wanted me to nurse him ASAP cause his sugar was a little low. Because he is a breastfeed baby they let me keep him even though I'd just had a c section so his bloodsugar could regulate

@brookemmoore, i know! They took him out without telling me at 5am this morning for labs when they thought he had jaundice ... omg I was freaking out!! When he got back I woke out of a dead sleep and ripped my shirt off.. he was so mad I guess they drew blood and poked at him. Even when he fell asleep I held him for an extra hour and a half.. I think I'm more clingy than he is

@exoticyuri, aww poor little guy. They really don't always think things through well that's for sure. I hated it when they took my baby out. I always made my husband follow them around and bring the baby back lol

Some do it to sleep but i wouldn't do it. Plus now my hospital doesn't have a nursery.

The only time my last baby was away from me was for tests and am planning the same for this baby am having my c-section on Wednesday

They try to keep the babies with the mothers as much as possible but in some case they want the mothers to get some rest. Like I didn't want my daughter in the nursery period I was at the hospital for 4 days because I had a spinal headache from the epidural. My doctor literally had to come down and take her to the nursey so I can sleep and no one could enter my room I was so sick. I had my husband and aunts stay when he couldn't so she could stay in my room. Never again will I get an epidural I couldn't bond with her that first month because the spinal headache was unbearable I had to stay in my dark room with no noise. It was horrible.
