I need advice. This years income tax my fiancé and I HAVE to get a new car. Not only is the one car we have now is older than me, (literally), but it is very dangerous, to drive. It's a piece of shit. If you saw the car you too would be like oh hell no lol. It's on it's last leg for sure! So anyway, as you can see we have two children right now, there toddlers. I hate putting my girls in this car, every time we have to go somewhere as a family I worry. I don't even like my man driving it back and fourth to work, anyways, I digress. So last January we randomly get pregnant with our baby boy we're expecting in three months. We're very excited but one major problem, the sorry excuse for a vehicle we have cannot fit more than two car seats. It barely fits the girls comfortably. We weren't expecting our baby to be on his way, so we didn't think of this until of course until I became pregnant with him. We need a new car, or at least a gently used one, I'm not picky when it comes to a new car for us, as long as it fits all three babies comfortably and isn't a piece of shit. And has all the features a car needs like AC and you get the point. Our car right now doesn't even have AC or working windows, or anything. It's a damn torture device. ☹️ We're going to get like 8 grand back this year but we need to set aside 3 grand so that leaves us 5 grand to set aside for a car. We originally thought we'll go to a used car dealer out here by where we live and just get one and pay monthly payments on it. I called up the place and they don't check credit, which is nice cause my fiancé has shit credit and I have like none at all. He said a down deposit won't even cost 4 grand, so that's nice to know. We're not made of $$$ so I want to make the most financially wise decision, but also get us a great vehicle that'll last us for years. We don't want a massive monthly payment either cause things are already a little tight financially for us. So here's my question! I was on craigslist for a whole other thing, but when I was on there, I decided to take a look in the cars in my area. I seen some nice looking cars people were selling for around 3-5 k. Which is in our budget. These cars are big enough to fit our entire family, so I got to thinking I wonder if we should just buy one off of here? We would have no monthly payment, the car would be ours. But can we trust people though? Can I trust that the car there selling isn't a rip off? I need an opinion and advice on this. Would you guys buy a seemingly nicely used car of Craigslist? Would you just use the dealership I found? Or if you know any other way for us to get a nice family vehicle could you share it with me? This is very important to us. I'm actually really sad because we're going to have our baby before we can purchase the vehicle so that means we're not going to be able to leave the house as a family for a few months. 😐
