So my son appointment today the doctor still wasn't satisfied with his weight gain.. she said we'll give it 1 more month and if he still hasn't progressed much then she will need to draw blood to check his thyroids.
Any Mommies ever have problems with their babies thyroids? Or weight gain?
@jaidensmommy, my poor little guy has been through the ringer. Basically his tummy rejects protein (most all formulas have them), we have him on a specialty formula with no protein and just the ingredients that allow his body to try and make their own. We will get there one day lol
@purpledpink
Awww poor baby ☹️
that puzzled my sons doctor. She said it's weird he's not gaining much weight and he isn't vomiting or having diarrhea. I wonder what's causing his tummy to reject the food. Sometimes I don't even understand the doctors 🤦🏾♀️
@jaidensmommy, from what all of our specialist have said, obviously growth and weight gain is important and they want to find out why they aren't growing. However, my GI doctor told us that while hi lack of weight gain is not optimal and is a concern, he is it suffering neurologically or developmentally for the most part. We do have to figure out why he is vomiting (his tummy rejects food), and we do need him to grow to help his lungs, but... all in all, he said that his lack of weight gain "wasn't going to kill him" lol
@purpledpink, exactly! I
mean it's weird because my son hasn't had any complications and he's perfectly healthy but he just won't grow.
I don't agree with the blood work and etc but in the same sense I'd rather be safe than sorry.
@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom,
Well my due date was nov.10 and my son was born oct.17 weighing 4lbs 15oz
He was fine , no complications or anything didn't have to stay in the hospital.
The first couple of months he was growing fine and around 5-6 months was when he started to fall off the growth chart. Here he is now 8months and weighs only 13lbs 4oz his doctor said he's underweight for his age. We've tried giving the vitamin supplements and increasing his intake of baby food and calories but he is barely progressing, although developmentally he is right on track
My little guy is in the same boat. We are having some scopes done to check on his lungs and tummy. I'm like @kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom, different situation as my son had other medical complications, however, in order for his lungs to have a chance to heal, they need him to be healthy and gaining weight, not loosing :( good luck mama!!!
@mommyofdoubletrouble, it's the loss of weight
I thought gaining weight was a symptom of something wrong with the thyroids?
Different situations but my second son was born very prematurely so he's pretty far behind on the growth chart but our pedi went off his milestones rather than his weight. It took 20 months to get onto the growth chart.
How much does your son weigh? At 9 months I think my 40 weeker was 19ish pounds and was doing fine.
How much weight has everyone gained? I'm at 31lbs at 30 weeks.

I am only on my 2nd trimester and I gained so much weight! 😭 Can you mommas tell me what’s like a normal weight gain to be expected, please.

My sweet baby girl gained her angel wings this morning. She was my best friend, my true love my everything. She was so happy and beautiful, I'm struggling to say good bye. Sleep tight princess, mummy and daddy love you very very much ❤️
