I need some serious advice.

I love my 6 year old son. But. I just don't like that little jerk 😣 I feel awful for saying that, but he's driving me so crazy, all the time! His behavior has gotten so bad lately, he doesn't mind, he talks back, he gets SUPER whiny, and when we punish him for bad behavior by taking away his video games or cartoons, he just keeps whining and complaining and asking when he gets them back.

Even when he's not being bad, he's just plain out annoying. I try to spend special time with him playing a game, watching a movie together, or reading books, but he won't stay focused on the activity. When he does these activities on his own, he has no trouble concentrating, so I don't understand.

He has not spent a lot of time with his biological father throughout his life, he currently only sees him about one afternoon each month. But almost every single aspect of his behavior and personality is just like his father, which makes everything so much worse because I can't stand a single thing about the man 😣

When he was younger I always looked forward to this age, when I could have real conversations with him and form a bond with him as an individual, but instead I seem to always be having to fuss at him 😔

Does anyone know of any really good parenting books or anything to form a better relationship with my kid?
