Has anyone else that breast feeds ever just use the boob or formula? I hate pumping. Like I would rather just straight up give him the boob or if he's not getting the boob then just a bottle of formula. Maybe I'm just lazy lol
Short Luteal Phase? I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
I just had to buy formula for the first time. And it's so expensive I could cry!

my boobs? I know I'm going to get flack for this, maybe I deserve it. I Hate my boobs now. I used to have perky c cups that I was proud of. After almost a year of nursing and pumping my boobs are just... sad. Deflated and stretched. I know it's vain but I just get so depressed about it.
if i tell wic in pumping and formula will they give me a pump or formula? not sure if i should tell them both or if im just formula feeding

Try a silicone pump! Those are what I use when I do want to store some milk. You can use it alone or while baby is feeding from one side for optimal results.

@arivera64, ohhh okay I won't do that then! If I could find a manual pump that's all one piece I'd pump so much more often I just hate all the little pieces and stuff that constantly need washing and sterilizing! lol

@gabriellerose I understand. Just didn't want you to cut down just to morning and night because you may lose that supply. It seems like what you're doing now is working so I'd probably just stick with that. I don't really pump myself.

@cubanese, The nicu had me nurse him then give formula right after nursing. His lips were very dry, he wasn't having enough wet diapers, and they were contemplating giving him IV fluids so I was 100% all for giving him the formula in his situation.

@arivera64, well we've been using the formula and breast feeding since he was born and he's almost 4 months old and I'm still making milk so I think we're okay because he's still putting on weight! He only has like 2 or 3 formula bottles a day and nurses at all other times. I just didn't know if anyone else never pumps lol

I agree. Supply and demand is very important for the breastfeeding relationship. More than 99% of women make more than enough milk so unless there's a serious issue, I don't recommend supplementing with formula. Just too risky. I hope you figure out what will work best for you.

@cubanese, well I had to use formula because he had jaundice and I had a c section so my milk took longer to come in and he needed help flushing the bilirubin out of his system right away because his levels were very high. Once my milk did come in I wasn't able to pump at school because I had no time during clinical between patients I could barely even eat lunch. So formula got incorporated into how we do things but now that I'm back home with him I'm trying to get my supply up I just literally can not stand pumping

@gabriellerose not necessarily. Once you ignore your bodys cue to release the milk, it will start to dry up. For many moms it's all or nothing. Not always, but that's just a chance I wouldn't be willing to take if you still want to give any breastmilk

@eashleystrain, usually I breast feed then supplement with a bottle of formula if I feel like he's still hungry but either way he nurses like at least 5 times a day and 3 times during the night. As he gets older I think I'm going to try to just nurse before bed and when he first wakes up. As long as I keep doing those times my supply should stay for at least those feedings right?
