In about 9 days before I get Induced on July 3. Doctor said instead of epidural they are going to do a spinal block instead....Forgot to ask doctor why? I know what an epidural is cause i had that done with my 1st child ....But spinal block I've never heard of it....Any info you ladies know about it id appreciate it. I don't see doc again till next thurs. Which will be 3 days before im induced then. Also with being induced do you still feel the contractions with a spinal block?
@saniyyahhasan i did look it up & not liking what i read about the spinal block....I feel much more comfortable just doing an epidural like i did the 1st time. I had no complications with that.
@jayme just relax you'll be fine.... You should look up the pros n cons of them also I might put some more prospectives on the issue.
@saniyyahhasan thats why im going to talk to doc on monday to see why she wants to do block....She explained nothing when it was 1st mentioned. Ill see what she has to say though like you said before i make a decision 100 percent to do block or epidural. What i dont like is the block last for a short period of time and the epidural last longer. I aint trying to be cut open then start feeling something because its worn off. Just concerned.
@jayme You never know the reason why she perfer a block it may be that it last longer or maybe it will be effective long enough to serve it purpose. It maybe that the block let u function better afterwards just see what see say first
@saniyyahhasan i hear you. It doesn't make sense. The doc didn't explain why she wanted to do the block and not the epidural. I have to talk to her come monday & see why she wanted to do block....Im also just going to request epidural instead.
@jayme I assume so. Ask why they think you need one instead of epidural
@saniyyahhasan thank you i also found out the epidural last longer then the spinal block. The spinal block is only for a limited period of time. I think i feel more comfortable with the epidural. That worked great for me the 1st time & think its better for me to use the 2nd time too. It is my decision right ? Id assume so at least its my body....
@jayme
It is easy to confuse a spinal block and spinal epidural because they are both injections into the spinal area. For a spinal block, narcotics or anesthetic is injected once with a needle. For aspinal epidural or combinedspinal epidural, a catheter is placed in the epidural space to allow continuous anesthesia.
From Google
@mommy.to.sterling my last c-section i had an epidural with it. But this one they want to do a spinal block. I have know clue about it. I thought someone on here would.
@saniyyahhasan i dont know....i never heard of one were they have you knocked out. I dont know anything about a spinal block so i dont know how its different from an epidural.
@papabird82
What is the one they know u out? I thought it was a spinal block .....lol so it more effective than a epidural ?
@rmreed i will my doc is out of the office till monday so ill have to wait till then.
@saniyyahhasan they said id be awake during delivery so i dont know ....Im going have to ask exactly whats going on.
I think that's when you will be knocked out during the delivery. But the question is why?
Please help!
My doctor is trying to induce me before 40 weeks because she's going to be off on my due date and says my placenta is starting to look old. How do I get labor started?? I don't want to be induced for no reason and I'm thinking I won't have a choice. Please help. What do I do to get things going?
Has anyone ever had to be induced an had to get there water broken by their doctor, if so can you tell me how does it feel, do it hurt, can you feel it, do they give you an epidural before they do it an also do they give you an epidural before your pitocin or can you ask for it before then?? Really need answers bc I'm so lost this my first time ever getting induced after 2 kids an first time hearing if they might have to break my water I'm not ready for that if it leads to pain. But they not sur...
When they induced u does it hurt?? And what do they do to induced u? I just wanna know that's all. 🤔🤔😐
I was thinking about just making a ham instead of a turkey its my first year cooking thanksgiving dinner and I have to do it alone. Plus I've never made a turkey before.
Oh I would love to know more myself. I think you will be ok just talk to her. She can only suggest a plan its your body at the end of the day
